Q: Since this has more watts are they brighter than the highly marketed 65watt halogens like silverstars?

Yes they are alot brighter. Low beam is 80 watts of white light. I have a large 4X4 and need to see out farther and to the sides better. These are the best I have found. Hard to believe when they are 20 bucks for two instead of 50

You get one bulb. I bought two. I can see how these "offroad" bulbs from hella can be brighter than normal but for me ...I put them in aftermarket housings that are better than my old stock ones which are toast. My new housings are not that great either but the aftermarket is limited for 2002 durangos. So they pretty much make a normal beam of light for me which was better than before. Also they are brighter than 6k hid bulbs out of a non projector clear lense Depo aftermarket housing for gen 1 Durango and brighter than the Phillips Xtreme Power out of the same housing.

Q: Will it fit a 1997 ford explorer xlt?

Should fit I think those take the 9007 bulbs like my Taurus. I got the 50% brighter ones. If you get a higher wattage bulb than factory you can overheat the wires or need to upgrade them to prevent short or fire! The listing has multiple options available so be sure to pay attention. The 50% brighter are way brighter than stock without much added strain on wiring! I got pics on my review so you can see how much brighter they are. The LED turn signals I put in were almost brighter than my old lights. We could drive with high beams on before and no-one flashed us, now with the 50% ones the signs reflecting when using high are almost too bright lol and everyone flashes if we don't dim.
