As a tutor, it can be difficult to find high quality products for reading comprehension. I love Reading Detective! It teaches students to analyze text and use critical thinking skills.

I like this book. It challenges my daughter and delves into various types of stories and practices various skills. Buy again!

We have used these books for the three grands home schooled. One just graduated prominent college, another in college, and one almost out of high school. We are using for he boys in elementary also. We just keep ordering. I do not like the sentence Informaiton as it is confusing at times . Other than that perfect.

I ordered this book as a resource to use in my Guided Reading groups with my 8th graders. I have looked through it and it is exactly what I have been looking for! I love how it has a pretest and a posttest. It also covers excerpts from commonly known literature excerpts. The fictional and nonfiction stories / articles also have activity pages to help reinforce the concept. The reading comprehension/literary analysis skills chart is also very helpful. I highly recommend this book!

My son's 8th grade teacher recommended this workbook to help reinforce the CC standards. My 8th grader reads the stories and answers the questions and is then able to find the evidence needed to correctly answer the questions. It helps the student back up his/her responses by having to go back and locate the paragraph which answered the question. I highly recommend this book for students to help increase their test scores.

This is one of the best reading comprehension activities you can buy. The lessons teach the child what to look for in a reading selection while training them to analyze the logic behind their answers (with supporting detail). The Reading Detective series are great for boosting standardized test scores. The only drawback to this product is the prohibitive cost.

My kids go to a school that’s a part time traditional classroom (2x a week) and homeschool (3x a week). This is one of the options they use and I found that I like it a lot. I don’t always like the schools options and tend to use my own books but this one is good.

I am a homeschool mom and many workbooks have multiple choice that corresponds with the story. This goes a step beyond multiple choice and has the student identify where they got their answer. They are forced to use textual evidence to show that they are understanding what is being read.
