My Outdoor Cats Will Appreciate This and I Will Too
I have some cats that are partially feral and do not want to come into the house in the winter. At feeding time, they are often joined by a few stray cats. Since it is only October and hasn't gotten into freezing temperatures yet, I have not fully tested this water bowl, but it does heat up and common sense says it will keep the water from freezing, which eliminates a problem. The cats will have drinkable water and I won't have to take water dishes inside to melt away the ice. Everybody's happier.

Not chew proof
Dogs chewed through the cord in a few daysWe tried to have it protected through a fence but they got to it. Luckily they were not shocked.

Over Heats the Water?
Overall, I do like the size of this pet water bowl which allows one to provide an all day (non-freezing) supply of water to one's pet; in my case, that "pet" would be a 50 LB Siberian Husky. What I do not like regarding this product is the fact that it is advertised to heat the water to a temperature of 95ºF - 130ºF. These temperatures are more like what one would expect when taking a warm or hot bath (or shower). In order to keep water from freezing, one only needs to keep the temperature of the water above 32ºF. There is really no reason to use the additional electricity to heat the water to 135ºF.I have measured the water temperature on a 20ºF day and the thermometer shows the water to be at 74 degrees, and there is steam rising from the water's surface. Moreover, my Husky will not drink water this warm (unless, of course, he is about to die of thirst). What I have had to do with this product is to place an outdoor 24-hour timer on the power supply line to this heated bowl, and then have the heated bowl only come on 30% of the time. While this has reduced the bowl's water temperature to a much cooler 54ºF (which my Husky will drink), I also plan to experimentally reduce the "ON" time further to see if I can successfully get the water temperature into the low 40s temperature range. The reason for trying to achieve a temperature lower than 54ºF is because my Husky loves to play in and drink from a spring that flows across my property. That spring water is a constant 37ºF year-round and my Husky considers this temperature to be ideal for his drinking water.Ideally, this would have been the perfect product if the manufacturer had made the bowl so that it could be thermostatically controlled with an inline temperature adjustment device.I suggest that if you are considering buying this product, also consider getting an inline 24-hour timer. This will allow you to reduce the water temperature to your desired level, and also save you some money on your electric bill.Update 11/7/24:I have now adjusted the timer so that the water is heated only 25% of the time. Since my 24 hour timer can be ON or OFF for 30 minute increments, this translates to having the timer on for 30 minutes in each 2-hour period. Also, those 30 minute ON intervals are spaced out evenly over the 24-hour period, so that the heating device is OFF for 1.5 hours, then ON for 30 minutes.Based on my measurements, this produces a water temperature of 37-38 degrees on days with single digit temperatures, and 48-50 degrees when the outside temperature is in the 30s.

Great gift!
I bought this before I knew my outdoor cats would become indoor cats! But it arrived quickly and works great right out of the box. I will either still use this for the other outdoor cats in my neighborhood this winter or donate it to another caregiver. I love that more options are out there for community cats!

Good quality bowls
We have feral cats that have come to depend on us for food and water in the wintertime. I usually had to change out the water multiple time throughout the day when the temperatures drop below 32. This heated bowl set will be a welcome addition for the cats so there is always non-frozen food and water available to them in the winter. The heated housing for the bowls seems to be good quality. There is no temperature adjustment but I checked and with the temperature in the house being around 70 the water heated up to 90 which will be good when outside temperatures are below freezing. The stainless steel bowls are nice quality and the cord is wrapped in plastic and is about 6.5 feet long. The bowls are about 3.5" deep and 6'' across
