Best soap book
This is the best soap book I had about using melt and mould glicerine soaps. She has a talent for teaching. Even the most essential details are explained in a simple way. Very creative ideas to use form, incorporating additives(a guide of additives), color and fragance in a coherent beautiful way. It includes about 30 craft projects. Some of them are: jelly rolls, fruit soap bars, soap marbles, the use of a lot of embelisments, loaf soaps, gifts for children and adults, shadow box soaps, swirled soap, stress relieve bars, how to make soap frosting, packaging fundamentals, kitchen soap, natural fruit additives, soap tassels. This is the most complete soap book I own. And I have 4 more books.

Good book
Great book and easy to read. Has simple explanations. It is not for those who make their soaps from scratch but rather full of tips and tricks and recipes for using melt and pour. I liked this book a lot and would recommend it for the newby.

A decent place to start
I'm new to soap making of any sort, and yes I realize that when speaking of Melt and Pour, 'soap making' is a misnomer.Pros:Lot's of color photos, simple directions, diverse array of techniques, brief resource guide, simple, easy-to-read charts that helps the reader stay on the right path. While you likely can find info online just as helpful as this book, it's extremely useful to have a resource in print.Cons:I had to go on line to find out what Melt and Pour base ACTUALLY is. Honestly, I'd expect a book by this name would address this matter, however it doesn't. And it makes sense. Had I fully understood WHAT 'Melt and Pour' base is, I wouldn't have bought it, which means I wouldn't need this book. The author also uses fresh ingredients in some soaps, which sort of confuses me. In the author's defense, she really makes no claim to MP being "natural" or any of the rest of it, however, most novice crafters may not realize that anything 'living', when placed in a dead object will die and decompose. Which either means make very small quantities (and keep refrigerated) or add a ton of chemicals/preservatives. Healthwise, MP just seems like a loose-loose situation, whose only benefit is quickness, sort of like Fast Food.I was particularly interested in the raspberry and honey oatmeal recipe, as well as the faux french milled soap. I often found myself consulting with online MP and Soap sites to: 1) understand exactly what MP is and how it works in order to better anticipate how ingredients may adversely affect any deviations from very basic recipes 2) very little discussion info on somewhat controversial/unstable matters that are not apparent to a novice like me (the quite obvious audience for this book). I'm specifically thinking of matters around beeswax, liquid extracts, or even that while containing oils, MP is mostly considered water-based.Whether I'd buy this book again is difficult to say. I guess the book is ok, though, after having done more research on MP and while it's easy, it's also limiting and full of chemicals that I would in no way have knowingly used otherwise. The author sells many, if not most items mentioned in her book, she's DEFINITELY a student of Madame CJ WalkerDecember 2012 update:I have since made 2 batches of MP soap based on the French milled and oatmeal soaps. I've varied the recipes greatly, but I must give credit to the book for providing visuals and a basic recipe to get me started. We all have to start somewhere and for all practical purposes, MP is practical introduction into soap making.

Very good book
Very good book. Lots of info for the nooby and refresher for others. It gives you more confidence to start making your own soap. The directions on the melt and pour soap package are very limited and this book fills in the answers to your questions. Get this book and start making soap! It's fun and very addictive. Make gifts for Christmas and tailor soaps for each person's likes.

Great Recipes and information
I really like this book and when I bought this book, I bought another M&P book. All I can say is I like the other one better. I like that there is a picture for each recipe but what seems to be lacking here is what fragrance to use at least on some of the recipes. I understand that some things should be left to the imagination but when it comes to recipes that I am trying to copy, I want to be exact and to kind of feel what she feels when the soap is used for the 1st time. There is no way I could make cake without knowing the full list of ingredients and I feel the same applies here. Overall this is a great book and a good read.

Great Book!!!
I gave this book to my niece as a gift. She loves to make natural soaps and body oils, so I thought this would make a great gift. Needless to say she loves it!!! The instructions are easy (she's 9 years old) and she enjoys the different designs.

A Great Beginner Find!
Easy to follow recipes for melt and pour soap. I am a complete novice and was very pleased with my purchase. It had been recommended to my by a friend and it starts with a few beginner soaps and works its way up. I have found it to be easy to read, easy to follow, and I have had success with the recipes I have tried.

great book!!!
This is a fantastic book for me as I am a newbee to soap making. It is very detailed and contains a variety of different kinds of soaps to make. It is a great starter for the beginner as it takes you step by step through different techniques. I believe that it is also just as useful to the seasoned soap maker. I must admit when it arrived and I started to read it I couldn't put it down. I can't recommend it enough!!
