Read to understand FASD/ARND to better feel empathy for those who live with this daily, hourly and minute by minute
This is a very simple book with excellent drawings. It depicts what it is like to have FASD or ARND and in elementary school with a plea to recognize that the interact with the world differently but are still people who should be treated with respect and inclusiveness. In a sense, it's simplicity is a window into the mind of someone with FASD/ARND and their ability to interact with the world. Keep in mind FASD/ARND is a spectrum so no everyone perceives the world or react to that world exactly the same and each may very well have different strengths and weaknesses. This book is a window to see into the world of the person. That is how I read it.

Great book to help children understand fasd
I bought this book to read to my son who has fasd. He has cousins and some other neighborhood children that think he is “weird” so now I have a resource to help explain why he is just a bit different. I love how simply it explains how fasd affects children. I recommend this book for anyone who has or knows a child with fasd

A MUST READ FOR CHILDREN AND ADULTS.
"The Way I am Different" touched on every emotion. Helen Simpson has helped to encourage not only children suffering from fetal alcohol syndrome but many others. Being a teacher myself I have been in search for a book of this nature to help my children understand each other better. I strongly believe every home, classroom, and library should have at least one copy available.

While I think it's a good book for peers to learn about FASD
While I think it's a good book for peers to learn about FASD, I think it might reinforce negative self thought for the child with FASD. It's not something I would read to my little guy.

Brings understanding and light to FASD
I wrote this book from a first person perspective with FASD. I have found that children not only relate to it, but love that they now have a book just for them! My goal with this book was to find joy and understanding. It has done that and so much more!

Very good children’s book
I bought this book and just absolutely adored the thoughtfulness the author took to show the perspective of a young child with FASD navigating their world. We often forget that different people view the world differently and this book helps both adult and child see and understand.

Ave your money
Way better books out there to read to your child, save your money and keep searching for a more detailed story that really can address the challenges a child might have growing up with FASD!

I’ll be reading this book with my child.
The Way I am is Different is an insightful story that highlights what a child with FASD may be experiencing. It’s important to acknowledge these feelings and to remember how hard they’re trying to do their best every day.

Great book to help children understand what a child with FASD is going through, the struggles they face, and that it is okay to be different.

Cute book!
Cute book for children understanding their diagnosis of FASD. It does mention that “my mommy drank while I was in her tummy” so just to pre-read before you decided to read it to your child.Overall a perfect little book for helping younger people understand their diagnosis of FASD.

Fair
This was a reasonably good book but think it could have been a little more specific regarding what he is feeling which causes the biggest challenge for those on FASD spectrum.
