Do You Love Fallout 4? Then You Are Bound To Love The Vault Dweller's Survival Guide. My Best Buy Of The Year So Far!
I'm new to the gaming world, finally decided to take the plunge and buy myself a PlayStation 4. I've played on friends consoles but never got around to buying one of my own.It was while I was insuring the PS4 that the agent recommended Fallout 4. The game is massive, bigger than GTA V yet takes less HDD space. I'm used to linear and semi open world gaming but Fallout 4 blew the roof off anything I've experienced before. There is so much happening in the post nuclear world that it's easy to get lost, sidetracked and most definitely frustrated and confused. The Vault Dweller's Survival Guide (Collector's Edition) is indispensable... It tells you everything the game and tutorials don't! Explains the gameplay mechanics. I would go as far as to say this is the Fallout 4 Bible. The quality and feel of the book is authentic even to the tiniest details such as the Toner blobs on the pages. The print quality is premium, the pages are semi glossy. The layout is excellent very easy to read, cross reference and have full colour screenshots and artwork. Some reviews say the pages are thin and easy to rip. This doesn't seem to apply to the Hardcover Collector's Edition, in fact this edition is the polar opposite, thick quality paper. Very detailed excellent maps too eThe Collector's Edition comes with a very large poster sized double sided map that goes into great detail. A full set of S.P.E.C.I.A.L Lithographs that come complete in Vault-Tec sleeve. Also included is free access to Prima Games Vault Dweller's Survival eGuide which means you can access the similar stuff that's in the book on your device. You do have to register for an account with them first though. But it is free and takes less than 2 minutes to do.If you are new to Fallout 4 like me this will give you the all the information you need and then some. For those who are Fallout legends this will give you even more stuff from crafting to stats this guide has it all!The two friends I know play this have just completed their 100 & 150 hours real time in game!An epic book 544 pages to compliment an epic game!

Vault Dweller's Most Important Book!
Excellent game guide. Contains all the information you need to survive and thrive in the wasteland after inevitable atomic detonation! The book itself is a durable chocolate brown leather-like colour that is soft to the touch. The text and the Vault-Tek logo are a nice warm copper-gold colour that looks awesome. Upon opening it, the pages are a little on the thin side, nothing to worry about though, I've man handled the pages and it seems to be durable although I'm unsure how resistant it is to tears, lets just say I won't want to test it.. Holds up well under normal but frequent use. It also makes flicking through the pages effortless as the pages are thin, quite handy when you're trying to find the relevant information while playing the game. Print is of a good quality, the pages also smell really nice if you're into that sort of thing, Book is printed in Italy.I love how the game guide stays "In character" it looks, feels and reads like a Vault-Tek creation. That certain 1950's quirkyness that the fallout game series pulls off is translated well into this guide. Just makes some of the text more fun to read.Information is well laid out, contains all information you'd need including collectibles, crafting etc and everything is well referenced so if you fancy a ice cold Nuka-Cola Quantum to relax after a hard days scavenging, then you'll know exactly where to get one. Some of the font is awesome it's like a special slanted 1950's hand written font that just goes so well with the overall fallout theme. Most of the pages have a vault boy artwork in various costumes, actions and activities that is related to the reading material. The guide also contains 7 lithographs enclosed in a Vault-Tek card envelope, the posters are full sized artworks of Vault boy posing as the games respective main attributes that make up your character otherwise known as S.P.E.C.I.A.L (Strength, Perception, Endurance, Charisma, Intelligence, Agility and Luck)They look amazing in person, these are A4 size.Weighs in about 500+ pages and in those pages are a few artworks which are scattered throughout the book which is always nice. I've only encountered a couple of minor mistakes so far. Also comes with a code for the online guide, the online interactive maps is a nice feature, you can click on the icons and it will tell you information about specific locations.Overall it's the best collectible game guide I've had, it goes that little bit extra, really authentic and without trying a really cool book to have. Over the moon with the guide for the bottlecaps I paid for it ;)

Good guide.
This guide has a bit of everything in fairly concise format. The maps and information are good. Comes with extras and a large foldout map. The guide covers pretty much everything from stats, to junk, and quests. The only thing missing is companions. Overall, it's a good, concise guide.

Missing items
The information in the book is very detailed and shows how much content this game has to offer. Having said that I was found I was missing the seven lithographs. Apart from that, very happy with the purchase

Fantastic guide!
Fully recommended, it contains a plentyful of info about fallout 4 and official DLCs, easy to read and to find anything you want to know.My recommendation is to have it, and read if you are stuck on any part of the game, and, once you have completed the game by yourself, restart it again with this book at hand to find and dig up all and any secret, mission or "hidden" stuff around!

The World Book Encyclopedia for Fallout 4
OK - Let me start with the admission that not only am I a Fallout newbie, but this is my first experience with one of these new generation immersion type games. I typically stick to simple quick games where I can blow off twenty to thirty minutes at a time. Fallout 4 requires a time commitment, and as much as I dislike that aspect, this game/world is incredibly deep. Being used to just opening a game and going right at it I popped Fallout 4 into the X-box and started to play. About an hour into the game I realized I had no idea what I was in for and little experience in what I was doing. Thank goodness for You Tube and gaming sites for pointing me in the right direction. However even with all the help available on the web there was still something missing as most of that material seems geared towards those who have experience in the Fallout universe. Realizing how deep this experience can go I wanted to tackle it all and began to search. The game developer provides limited help from within the game and no manual on it's website - at least not yet. That led me to this product (that has the game developers fingerprints all over it) which is, for all intents a, World Book Encyclopedia for Fallout 4. Yes it is a game manual, but the game is so big, deep and involved that an encyclopedia is what's needed. Some seasoned Fallout veterans say this book doesn't capture it all, which is good, because the last thing I wanted was a manual that takes the exploration fun out the experience. After a few quests with the manual by my side I can happily say it doesn't. This manual provides some very useful maps, strategies, and hints without revealing everything. It delves into some key details and explains the concepts of items, their uses, and improvement modifications without giving you all the answers on what to use when - the gamer has to figure that out. This book gives a good overview of the mission objectives, warns of the pitfalls, and provides helpful hints on how to either engage or avoid conflicts. It doesn't give all the answers but it should set thoughts in the right direction. It gives general information on where key items can be found via a chart system, but if that's not enough the detailed information on item locations are on the maps; you can choose how much help you take. The information is broken down into sections and is written in such a way that once you understand the basic concepts of game play you can jump from section to section based on what you need to know when you need to know it. "Vault Boys Helpful Hints" strewn throughout the pages give you very some handy tips as well as a window into the developers thoughts.I purchased the hardcover edition because I wanted the large map of the wasteland so I sprung for the extra $5. One of the reasons I enjoy this game is because I know Boston quite well and seeing these places in a post-apocalyptic scenario gives this game some fun familiarity. The large map is broken down into individual sections included within the manual, so it is more of a convenience than a necessity. Also included with the hardcover edition is a pack of 7 prints of the Vault Boy depicting the Attributes as seen on the attribute chart. They do nothing for me but for a collector they might have value. If the map and mini-posters don't tickle your fancy save a few bucks and go with the softcover edition. Other reviewers have posted very accurate pictures of these contents.Included with both the softcover and hardcover editions is access to an electronic version of the manual that you gain access to through an included redeem code. Note that it is not a downloadable file so access to it requires an internet connection. The electronic version works well on the PC, however navigation on my iPad and iPhone is a bit cumbersome. The style and publication of this manual is right in line with the "Atomic Age" concept of the game so it all ties together very well. I'm guessing Bethesda worked very closely with Prima games to publish this work to get a little extra cash for their game manual. It's fun to read even while not involved in the game. I often find myself stopping life for an hour to play Fallout 4 only to find that I get immersed in it for three or so hours - I figure might as well enjoy it to the fullest and this manual has been a big help in doing that. To think I've only just begun. Enjoy!!
