A Lucky Man: Stories

Beautifully written prose, in some parts of the book, almost poetic, but it is not, it's prose. The stories are very dark. I can't and don't want to tell this author what to. Undoubtedly, we will and should hear again from this talented writer, but next time, can you throw in a little "sky."

Excellent book with interesting adventures

These stories dazzle with Brinkley’s massive talent. I absolutely loved each and every tender story. Inside the beautifully wrought sentences lie truths and insights that resonate with authentic elegance.

The author was my daughter’s professor at UW Madison and she has always speaked highly of him. He is an amazing writer, loved the book and short stories. His descriptivenesscreates a movie in your mind. Awesome book!Can’t wait for his next one.

The writing is so lyrical, breezy and flavorful it gives the reading of it the experience I can only phrase as a thrill. Excellent work from a young master.

The first story is somehow the weakest in the collection, in my opinion, but this is a fantastic collection overall.

A gorgeous collection.This is a very good read by a master storyteller - the kind of book that you will keep on your shelf and continue to return to. Some of the sentences are so beautiful that might very well haunt you.
