True to size and sturdy! So much yes!!!! The style, the feel, the color... it took me FOREVER to find these hasps. Excellent for the price too... I made my sister a solid wooden essential oil box with the small hasps, and she loved it. The trick to get these to fit perfectly is fastening the lower half of the hasp to your box first, then insert AND LATCH the top part of the hasp to the bottom half, sliding the top half slightly up so the latch is taught. Mark the holes with a pencil and pre drill your holes. Then fasten the top half to your box. Bam! Nice snug hold. Thanks for making a great product!

worked well

I'll be using these for multiple varying projects, but the key thing is the gap. They come in such a way where there will be a gap between the pieces when you close the latch. Fortunately, it's malleable. I was able to make minor modifications and now they're great. I used a couple pliers as seen in the photos. Two in the image are how they come, one is my first attempt (decent) and second is much better. You can open the back to get the piece out, which I suggest. You can see in the photo (if I can figure out how to add them) where it's bent open and the other side after it's closed again. When the piece is rebent, the tips touch perfectly, so I didn't need to do any cutting.

Great product for the money

The hinge pins came out of both hasps - totally unusable.

Probably an OK latch for the money. My biggest issue was the latch was too loose for my application. When the latch was closed, there was a 1/10 inch gap where the two parts engage (see Photo). I tried shortening the wire, but that was pretty time consuming and a lot of trial and error.

I think these are well made and for what I use them for work really well and will buying more in the future

If you are looking for these types of latches you know how expensive they can be so I was shocked to find this pack of 10 for so cheap.The quality is good. The stamped metal is a little thin at 20 gauge steel but it will do the job. I like the finish though its a bit darker than in the pictures.I'd estimate each of these latches to be able to withstand 15-20lb of force.Only thing that would improve upon these would have been if they had soldered/brazed the two ends of the bent wire that does the latching - this would have improved on its strength tremendously.

very low gauge metal.. they will not hold weight or compression without cotter pin in the slot. but good looking.
