Mountain Hardwearmens Ghost Whisperer Snap Jacket Down Coat
L**A
Very warm, very light, but tight around the pits.
It’s a great thruhiker jacket or ultralight activity jacket. I love the snaps! It’s my first snap puffy, zippers give me anxiety over busting on trail so I thought I’d try something new. The XL weighs 8.55 ounces on my scale. I’m 6’ 1” and 220lbs, broad shouldered, average size gut… It’s too tight in the armpits, and too loose in the gut. However, I decided to keep it because it’s pretty much the lightest jacket out there for the warmth ratio and price point. My use is for wearing in the cold mornings and evenings and keeping my upper body warm when using a down quilt while ultra light backpacking , so I am sacrificing a bit of comfort for weight savings. It keeps me comfortable down to upper 30s haven’t tried it past that yet.

Excellent variant of a classic
This is a great down sweater. I wanted one without a full front zipper - and there were complaints about the zipper being very small etc on the regular version. I like the buttons - for casual wear just button the middle two buttons - its much better when you sit on a chair ( I know these things are supposed to be for folks hanging from an ice ledge on K2 - but I suspect mostly bought by suburbanites to wear around town). The buttons are great. The zipperless hand pockets are fine. There are two spacious inside "glove pockets". There is also a zippered pocket on the inside. The engineering is excellent - everything perfectly sewed down. And ofcourse we have the legendary down 800 filling and ripstop water resistant fabric. And as a 5 ft 10 inch male 165 lbs , the Medium was made to measure. The Green is very dark indoors ( almost black) and a lighter dull green in outside sunlight - probably because the fabric is so thin. Its a nice color.
