Unfortunately the English translation is marred by a considerable number of typographical errors which at times makes reading a challenge. The content is detailed but spends more time exploring the origins of the weapons, armour and tactics than actually discussing and explaining the armies of each period. Apart from the battles with Alexander, there isn't any detail of other battles. Still an interesting read if you want to explore how the various Persian armies came into existence and their evolution.

A much needed study of the ancient Persian military. Unfortunately suffers from poor editing and translation. Wish it was published by a publisher in English speaking world. Still an interesting study nevertheless.
