I should also add that we've been using Expo fine tipped dry erase markers and have had no problem ...
So I recently bought a bunch of these books for my little over two year old to work on while I started working from home very part time. I needed something to keep him busy that requires minimal interaction from me and isn't just watching a movie. These work well for that. I should also add that we've been using Expo fine tipped dry erase markers and have had no problem cleaning them up with just a dry rag. One of the hardest things I had to decide between was which of these books to get, and since I'm really visual and more of a like to flip through the book first person, I figured I'd post the photos here to give you an idea of what you're getting with this one.One of the things I love about this one in particular is how it really can grow with your child as their skills develop and get better, the images get more complex and detailed, but it starts out very simple and large. My two year old isn't really able to trace stuff yet, but he enjoys doing it with me and watching me and trying to do it himself. He's also learning to color in the object s with these as we learn about borders and shapes. Some of the activities are also repetative as you go along, giving them lots of practice and then buids on their skills later in the book using the same kinds of ideas.Since most of these kinds of books actually focus on tracing activities, I really wasn't sure about this one and if it would be repetitive in our library, but the fact that it takes your child from beginner learner to more advanced has me convinced I made the right choice as a lot of these books tend towards a certain level and don't really take them from beginner to more advanced as this one does.

Great Learning Tool For All Ages!!
I bought a few of these books in the same series for my son and daycare kids to get a jumpstart on writing. My 2 year old, who is fairly intelligent, doesn't really grasp the concept of following the dotted tracing lines, and instead prefers to 'color the kitty's eyes' or color in the pictures. My 3 year old loves it though, and immediately understood that we start our marker on the big purple dot, then follow the dotted lines. Within minutes she was doing all sorts of pen control exercises that I didn't know she could do! It really helped her learn the most comfortable way to hold the marker and be able to control it the most, which quickly led to her being able to write her whole name!!!While my son isn't using the book for its sole purpose, he's still learning things, and I know he'll grow into it.I've found that Expo low-odor dry erase markers work best with kids in these books, but make sure you erase the pages everyday!! We made the mistake of leaving the writing in the book for a couple days, and it stained the pages a bit.

Big hit with our 3 year old!
Our 3 year old daughter loves to learn and this workbook is a hit! Easy to wipe workbook that allows her to practice tracing. Her favorite part is wiping it clean at the end. I posted a picture of her playing with this online and got several comments of people asking where we got this book.

use a different marker!
i was so excited to get this for my 4 year old! he caught on right away and loved it.the only bad thing is the marker they send with it. it's a mess. I'm attaching a pic of what my hands looked like after wiping off the pages with a baby wipe and dry paper towel... and this is after i washed them with soap and water.I'll just use a dry erase from now on.

Workbook that is perfect for preschoolers and up, and a great activity for the car.
If you have read my other reviews, you will see that I purchased several different versions of the dry erase workbooks for my granddaughter. This one is different than the other two that I bought.First, I must mention Amazon and it's amazing ability to have things arrive at my door almost before I hit the order button. If I had to mention one thing that bothered me about the purchase it's that this was just laying in the bottom of a box that had other purchases on top of it. Because the pages are cardboard/whiteboard, I would have like to have seen it have a little more protection from getting gouged or scratched by the other things in the box. I know that is minor, but the little dings make the book look like it is used already, although it's perfectly clear it hasn't been.I also cannot stress enough that the included markers with these types of books for kids are a nightmare. For one thing, no matter which hand is dominant, when they write or trace their hand inevitably crosses something they've already done, and it smears. So then there is black on the sides of their hands, and it messes up the whole page they have been working on. Add to that the aggravation of their shirt sleeve dragging through smeared black marker ink, and you have a recipe for a laundry disaster. So order the Crayola Dry Erase Crayon set that is around $4 and get rid of the markers before your child sees it, (this is for your own sanity, trust me on this!)I bought this workbook for my granddaughter who is 5. She asked for Santa to bring her books this year instead of toys. Her favorite thing to do now is to read and to do school work. I picked this book because she gets frustrated when she is trying to draw a shape and her 'work' is not quite the right shape. For the intended purpose, this book is perfect. It just helps to round out the fine motor skills required to draw a shape. Plus, if all the work they put in to drawing these shapes yields less than perfect results, they can just erase and start over again.I would think that this book would even be appropriate for ages 3 and up, and especially if you have siblings that include one that has started school and one that hasn't, the older can use this to 'teach' their younger brother or sister what they work on in school. Anything that buys a parent 10 minutes of quiet play is worth any cost, but with this book the cost is minimal!I liked that the spiral spine of this particular workbook is partially covered by the cover, so there is less chance for the spiral to get smashed and inoperable. The spiral is pretty thick and covered with thick white plastic, so there is no exposed metal. All in all, this is another great Amazon purchase, and you can't beat the price!

awesome book but needs dry erase crayons rather than included pen!
amazing book but horrible pen! I had to literally wash the pages off with the wand from the sink. The included pen just smears and smears! I followed the advice of other reviewers and bought crayola dry erase crayons and they work amazingly! Just throw away the pen and get those crayons and you'll have an awesome product!

Don't leave the pen lid off!
I bought this for my 3 year old who loves drawing and is starting to progress from "scribble" to pictures (when in the mood!) She loves it and dived straight in with her pen. We had a slight altercation when I rubbed out a bit of her drawing to demonstrate it could be deleted - apparently I should have asked permission! But she was soon happily tracing and rubbing out, tracing and rubbing out. Then we had to go to work / nursery. That eveing when she came home she picked up the pen to do some more. But she had left the lid off (and in the usual rush to leave I hadn't noticed) and the pen had dried out, in about 10 hours! I was shocked and she was distraught. It was all my fault. The next day I bought some white board pens from the pound shop, which had the added bonus of being in 5 different colours. Perfect - harmony was restored. So - a recommended product, but get some spare pens in before you give it to your chuld, because let's face it every 3 year old is going to leave the lid off the pen at some point...!

I will buy more of these
My 2.5 year old adores this and has really come along in a short period of time with her writing. We don't use the pen that came with it as it stains. Instead we got the crayola dry wipe markers and they are wonderful; especially when some of the lines in the back are coloured so she can match the colour and trace the line.Activities include: horizontal lines, vertical lines, slanted lines, u shaped loops, v shaped paths, curly loops, tracing shapes like circles, squares, triangles and faces. In the end there are whole pictures to trace.

Supprisingly good
I ordered this product for my three year old to practice his pen skills. He isn't usually very keen on following instruction when drawing, for example if he is asked to draw a circle or straight line he gets really frustrated if he feels it isn't perfect. I thought this book was gonna be small and maybe a bit flimsy but it is A4-size and sturdy make. My son enjoyed playing school with it and really liked the fact that he could wipe it clean. It seemed to be easier for him to try and make 'mistakes' when he knew he could erase them..little perfectionist. Good product, the pictures get more challenging when you go ahead.

Great
Love this. My two year old does a great job and it keeps her busy for ages. She tries hard to trace but eventually scribbles all over it, which is fine too. It wipes clean easily, and comes with a pen. Love it

Excellent learning material
Excellent learning material.Catches my child's attention with the colours and shapesI am not fussed if my child doesn't trace exactly but he loves to try to get it right, so long as he is mark making which this book encourages to do then we are happy!
