Incredible durability - still reeling 'em in after thousands of pulls
Been using this reel every single day with my work keys for about 6 months now. Because of my job, I have about 20 keys and I use them probably about 100 times a day. So as far as durability goes, I think that's a pretty good track record; even if it failed tomorrow. (given its affordability)For usability, this keyring is practically perfect. Of course, I wish the reel part was slightly smaller, but that would mean it wouldn't extend as far, so I think it's appropriately sized in that regard. The length is perfect, even to reach high locks (for instance, one of my most used keys is an elevator floor access key, and the top keyholes are about 6 feet high; I wear this hooked to a belt loop on my waist) With the carabiner, the bulk of my keys can sit in a side or butt pocket of my pants while hooked on a belt loop (to stop that janitor-like jingling) with only the circular reel exposed. The strength of the reel is acceptable. It doesn't fight you too much but retracts quickly and completely when not in use. Although, as my job responsibilities expand and more keys are given to me, I have noticed it is probably nearing capacity - probably more than 25 keys would counteract the reel's strength if left subjected to gravity hanging at your side and the keys would struggle to stay pulled in. So for my purposes, I try to limit the keyring to my high-priority and daily-use keys.I bought two originally in case it wore out or broke due to high usage, but as mentioned at the beginning, my first key reel has been working perfectly for 6 months straight with no signs of wearing out!Update: Purchased August 2014, finally broke on July 2015 with daily heavy use. Was definitely pushing the key limit in its later months, probably always about 18-20 keys when it says that it can retract with about 15. The end of the string snapped, which is honestly still amazing that it lasted as long as it did with the use that I put it through. Luckily with the affordable price, I had bought two originally and I won't hesitate to continue to purchase this product in the future.

Great for heavy duty
I work part time as a supervisor at CVS and attend college full time. I am always carrying around a set of keys for my house and a set of keys for the store. Not to mention, I also carry around a pocket sized flashlight for specific reasons that involve work. Having to carry so much around, I decided to look for a key chain that was sturdy and good for heavy duty usage. While looking through various different products, I came across this item. I've had experience previously with the retractable feature but however they turned out to be very flimsy and the cord usually broke within couple of weeks, so I was hesitant at first. After reading many positive reviews of this product I decided to give it a try. I must say, I am very pleased that I have purchased this product. This product is very well built, however it is bigger than I expected. I am able to carry around about twenty keys and a pocket sized flashlight attached to this product and it has given me no trouble. To give more clarity of the overall product, I will list the product details so you can understand better.**Specifications**- 48inch long cord built with Kevlar, which enables it to have a smooth extension and it is very durable.- The body is crafted from polycarbonate and it is very sturdy, made for impact and rough use for a long lasting product.- From top to bottom, this product is close to 7inches, so it is rather large.- The body is attached to a nylon strap, which is also clipped into a metal carabiner.- This entire product is made in USAOverall, so far my experience has been great and I am very happy that I finally found a product that enables me to carry all my keys and flashlight. Hopefully my review was helpful, If you have any questions or comments please feel free to contact me and I will get back to you as soon as possible!

Secure, reliable, and long-lasting retractable keychain.
TL;DR - Still going strong after four or five years of constant use. Firm cord tension keeps keys in place but allows smooth extension.I use these for all my keys (house, car, office/lab keys). I pair it with a carabiner (the one that came with it failed long before the keychain itself did) and clip it to my belt loop. It has enough length to stay in my pocket while sitting, but this may depend on sitting position as well as dimensions of pant pocket openings and belt loop placement near pockets. They fit perfectly in my old pants and about 90% of the time in my current pants. Even so, the carabiner keeps it attached if it falls out, so there's just a jangling noise as it slaps gently against the side of your leg while you walk. The stay in my pocket 100% of the time while standing.I wanted the retraction feature because I use my keys frequently at work and wanted to ensure they were still attached securely (as opposed to taking out a loose keychain multiple times. I work in a chemistry lab and need to carry important things in one hand while passing through locked doors, so this keychain let me use one hand to quickly find keys, open a door, and immediately drop the keys so I could continue moving. Very convenient. They also stay in one place in my pocket so I don't have to go "fishing around" for them. The keys extend past the length of my arm and therefore don't limit my effective door-opening range. The retraction mechanism is shaped like a flat disk and therefore rests against my thigh with a low profile, only partially blocking the entrance to my pocket - I can fit my keys and wallet comfortably in the same pocket. For driving, I quickly unclip the carabiner from my belt and stick the car key in. The carabiner dangles into the leg space sometimes but if this is annoying I loop the carabiner upward and hook it into the keyring, essentially folding the item in half. I also do this at the gym so the keys keep a lower "bundled" profile easier to remove from pockets. The last picture shows that there is some wear in the string near the keyring attachment. I don't know if the main cords are thin metal or very thick fabric, but it looks like the two main threads are still attached (it's been four of five years of daily use). This product is exactly what I wanted and I will buy another one when this one finally fails. Very satisfied customer.
