Went to all the major retailers and furniture stores in the metro area of 1.2 million people. Found nothing to replace my 17 year old polished brass "seashell" shroud floor lamp. Yes, I was expecting a price increase, but not sticker shock at the retailers. I then turned to Amazon, and they had over 1,000 styles of floor lamps. I look ed through all of them and chose this one. Make sure you know the specs on your existing floor lamp, it features and where you want to place it and plug it in. I put the same 60 watt CFL blub I had in this new lamp and it works. It has a heavy base to keep it from tipping over. It was shipped, appears and operates as advertised. One drawback: I wish they had put where the off/on switch was i.e. inline, and a floor button you step on. I just reach to the floor, the side of my recliner, and press it with my finger. The lower the lamp is in vertical height the farther away the floor off/on switch can be. At least put the off on switch in the photo and label it. You have to pull the electrical cord through the center shaft, which is all adjustable. The price is just right, too.

We have had this lamp for 6 years. That seems like a long period of time but for most of it the lamp has stood in the corner unused. This lamp was purchased for night time reading. In actuality my wife has mainly used an iPad not requiring the use of the lamp and for the past couple of years has used a battery operated book light when reading a book.When she did use the lamp we found that the lamp post would constantly loosen and start to tilt at the base and need to be adjusted. Very disappointed in its ability to stay completely upright. It is supposed to be adjustable...not constantly NEEDING adjustment.The lamp started to tilt again so I laid it on the rug to look underneath and I was shocked to see some plaster-like material come tumbling out of the base. As I continued to loosen the base more and more of this stuff came out. I was completely aghast to see that the weighted base was made from this material (see pictures). It is no wonder the lamp was never secure. This is the worst design imaginable. This lamp is non repairable and will need to be thrown away. Even if the same base insert is available I would never buy it again.Buyers beware - check to see if this design still exists and if so...buy at own risk.

Arrived sooner than expected. The base is a bit small, but weighted and will hold the lamp upright if not put to undue stress - such as a larger pet bumping into it.. The swivel arm is somewhat spindly in appearance and not not quite level when extended. Close enough if you are not a perfectionist. It was easy to assemble with clear instructions. Required little effort or thought. Over all, it would have been a good buy at $75.00 including shipping. At $90 including shipping, it is slightly over priced. It is a more attractive and functional than many floor lamps you can purchase for a similar price. The shipping packaging was a bonus - Chinese newspapers. It appears that they are as interested in our society as we may be in theirs. I would purchase this floor lamp again, but look for a better price because of the swing arm shortfall.

I like the look of it. People are right in saying the shade is not excellent, but it isn't bad either. I draped crystals all around it and suddenly it looks a lot more expensive. During the day, the sunlight hits the crystals to make rainbows; at night the light from the lamp through the shade makes great silhouettes and shows off the pewter-held crystals to advantage. It's not as sturdy (as steady on the floor) as I had expected, and the little table is rated for five pounds. I'm glad it's tempered glass though; my smallest cat who uses it for a step to the table or the chair, weighs nine pounds, so we'll see... I do like it a lot in spite of my comments. Looks nice.

I love this little lamp! I put it in fairly tight space in a dark entry where I just wanted a little spot lighting. With a low watt LED, it's perfect! Well made, seems heavy. Has a foot button for on / off which is nice.

I ordered 2 of these lamps at the same time. When I opened them one had a black wire and one had a clear wire. The black wired lamp works perfectly. The clear wired lamp does not. The 3-way does not work and it is very dim. I am really disappointed that they both don't work. I love the lamp and will try to replace the broken one and hope it comes working.

The lamp itself is fine, but I knocked 2 stars off because the advertising is deceptive, as NO LAMPSHADE is included! This should be clearly stated. Not sure why some of the reviews are mentioning a lampshade, but mine contained none. And for this price, it a lampshade SHOULD have been included!

My wife wanted a bedside light for reading. The lamp on the nightstand wasn't cutting it anymore. I put an LED spot bulb in this lamp to cut the heat, and put it right next to the bed. She loves it. This lamp is not high quality, but it works. I'm pretty sure it's a Chinese product.
