For the first 4 months or so this steriliser worked perfectly. Then I started to notice a slight increase in algae on the glass and plants. By the end of the 5th month the aquarium looked like a bomb site.The lamp unit is sealed so you can't clean it or replace a dying bulb. I paid around £25 for this unit which is now becoming increasingly difficult to find in the UK. A replacement lamp unit is currently around £18. In short, it's a poor buy. Look elsewhere.

I had a horrible case of algae bloom that wouldn't go away no matter how many water changes, scrubbing the tank clean, changing the filter material every day, changing to 2 other filters. nothing work except this. within 2 days of installing my water went from green and cloudy to completely clear. Now I have it set to run for an hour every 2 days for maintenance. Works like a gem and would definitely recommend!

The aquarium that i put this filter in always has the clearest water. Pretty good/fast acting.

Keeps water clear, clears green water, even cloudy white water (bacterial bloom), and even kills dangerous things in your water (Ich, etc.). Had my current one for a year and it's always kept my water clear and cleared it quick after bacterial blooms from stirring up gravel. Light only lasts about a year used intermittantly, and 6-9 months used constantly, and isn't replaceable so I bought a new one for Christmas this year. Well worth the money, even if I have to buy one every year. It does what it claims and does it well. Isn't very big, mine's in a 15 gallon and isn't tiny but doesn't take up a ton of room in my tank.Update April 2020: I've decided to plug this thing into the same timer as my lights. This way it comes on only when the lights are on, which is 8 hours a day. This means that instead of running this 24 hours a day, I'm only running it 1/3 of the time so it should last three times as long, so instead of 6 months, it should last 18 months. I love this filter.

Product came in excellent condition, works amazing, just the right size for my 10gallon tank cleared up the cloudy water in 2 days to crystal clear and the fish seem happy, great product for the price.

When my aquarium first exploded with green I wasn’t sure what path to go down to try and resolve the issue. In all my years of having tanks I’ve never experienced this before. I reached out to our local fish store and they advised that all the water changes and completely emptying the tank would not fix anything. Their suggestion was to buy these packs that go in your filter that you change weekly for weeks. That path seemed daunting and long so I continued my research and came across UV light treatment.First I’ll start by saying it does work but you have to give it time I think depending on your tank size. I bought the light for the up to 20 gal as I have a 20 tank. After reading lots of the reviews I followed some suggestions. The first 3 days of the light in the tank I noticed nothing at all so I did a small water change. That improved the water so a few days later I did a second water change. I did go on vacation for a week and when I came home the water was crystal clear.My first picture was March 22nd, second April 8th. I’m not sure how fast it went clear as I was away from home for a week but did return to a beautiful tank.Some reviews said it was loud, I noticed it for the first hour in the tank and that was it once it was running it was quiet.The product works. Just give it time and maybe a water change to notice the difference. Good luck!
