Quality item
When this spreader came it was all in bits. My initial thought was omg however when I put it together its turned out to be a substantial quality product, only time will tell how good it preforms but up to now I think its money well spent.

Looks good.
Completely fed up with my various useless spreaders...the usual suspects...cheap and nasty...and so very frustrating...I bit the bullet and forked out lots of shekels for this model. Satisfactory delivery, and was rather surprised to see a smallish box...considering the pictures of the finished article in all its grandeur? So, opened the box, and was confronted with a host of parts and a book of instructions. Gulp! However, in approx. an hour, the spreader was assembled and ready for action. The assembly instructions are not too bad, but they could certainly be better! This spreader is very simple in design and operation, and I think it will prove a wise investment. Filling the hopper will now be a doddle, and I will be using my spreader primarily for gardening purposes, e.g. lawn sand, fertiliser, grass seed, etc...Recommended.

Brilliant.
Assembly is fiddly but achievable. Most impressive is the spreader in action. I bought it 1 year ago, it has handled lawn sand and various fertilisers with ease. Brilliant.

Dosing mechanism adjustment unreliable
I can now write a good review as the spreader has come to the end of its life. Bought in 2013, in 2018 it rusted through. For the first year or two it worked well, but after that challenges started. The adjustment lever did not reliably open and close the dosing holes. The gearbox tended to pop open. Finally the powder coated metal frame rusted through where it gets touched by the fertilizer.I would not buy it again - want a better gear box and adjustment mechanism - but for light use with careful cleaning it is a good choice.

Good spreader for fertilizer.
Bit fiddly to assemble and had to apply some Gorilla Glue to handle frame where the bolts affix to stop 'wonky' handle twist.Works well with fertilizer but not so with grass seed . It doesn't flow well unless on fully open setting.

Very disappointed. For the price
Very disappointed. For the price, I was expecting something a little more robust. The actual spreader mechanism is cheap plastic and the adjuster jams when the hopper is full. Not really any better than the cheap version I bought this to replace.

Perfect upgrade from the cheap big box retailers
I was in the lawn maintenance business for 10 years, and all our techs used Earthways. When it came time to get a spreader for my own lawn I burned $35 bucks on Scott’s brand. Despite my best efforts with Scott’s,after 2 yrs of altering spreader patterns, rate of application and distance between passes I gave up. Finally got sick and tired of my striped lawn, the cheap plastic pieces and wheels and bought the earthway. Wish I would have listened to my years of lawn care experience and invests that $35 into this spreader. Would have saved me lots of time and frustration. This spreader is fantastic. Always an even pattern, easy to operate and very sensitive to varying application rates (whether dropping salt, fertilizer, pesticides). Tires grip the turf well to keep the spinner plate rotating. Don’t listen to the reviews that it is difficult to assemble, if you know how to read, operate a Phillips head and pliers, you can put this together over an hour and a beer. Of note, I was a bit apprehensive of this one because it does NOT come with the side deflector for edges, but simply read the directions. I have had perfect results with adjustment of the 3 hole drop system sufficiently loading my edges for accurate application. Greatly reduced germination rates of crabgrass and spurge along my concrete edges this summer. Bucket is a bit large for my needs, but it does not affect operation and I would rather have a larger bucket for my needs than a smaller one. Also, this is not cheap plastic, it is made of many steel parts, so if you apply salt or iron products (which I do), proper cleaning is a must.

Amazing spreader, horrible assembly
The first time using this spreader after using a Scott’s mini for years was surreal! So smooth, good range too. However, the assembly instructions are terrible and their YouTube tutorial was terrible. In the video the camera was pointed on the wrong side and you can’t see what the person is doing. Don’t even bother with the paper instructions that come with it

It's just okay.
I got this to handle lawn fertilizer and lawn seed only. Assembly was straightforward - took me about half and hour. Setting the spread rate takes a little doing - seems to be more art than science. It handles most Scott's fertilizers without clumping at the recommended spread rate (12-13). Grass seed is another story. I had to set the spread rate to about 15-20 before anything came out because at the recommended rate, the seed clumped immediately. The good thing is its got pneumatic tires which make it easy to push and easy to bounce to clear up those clumps!

Easy to put together lawn spreader
Well, I'm no Bob Villa so after examining the parts list to make sure I had everything I went straight to YouTube, found someone with the exact same thing and followed their instructions. What a snap and just about an hour. I can understand how this works, too. No problems in spreading. Keep it maintained and it should last. BTW, I'm a 66 year old lady. Use YouTube and you won't have a problem.
