Built-in stretch gives these women's Carhartt canvas pants a comfortable, easy-moving feel. Midweight canvas and a stretch waistband offer everyday comfort. Their relaxed fit means a little extra room in the seat and thigh for easy movement. Review: A perfect pair of pants for me! - These are great pants for me! Recognizing that bodies come in all shapes and sizes, here is why they are great for me and might be great for you. The Fit: I am typically a size 8 or M pant, and I find most standard length pants to be just about an inch too short for me. I am 5'7", 138 lbs, 28 inch natural waist. I bought a size 8 Tall, and these pants fit almost perfectly, with just a little room to spare. When they go through the washer and dryer for the first time I imagine they will shrink just a bit, based on other reviews I've read. They sit at my waist just below the belly button. Not too high, not too low. That sweet spot that's very comfortable, without looking frumpy. Love the length. They are long enough - I have about an inch to spare - so that if they do shrink in the dryer, they will still be long enough for me. (I prefer pant legs to break at /over the top of my foot, not above or at my ankle.) This is a huge plus for me! Color: These pants are a nice dark olive color. In dimmer light they look almost brown. I find this color to be versatile enough to go with multiple shirt colors on top, at least in my wardrobe. Fabric: It feels like a nice sturdy fabric. Feels like a heavy denim pant. But there's a nice little bit of stretch and flexibility to the fabric if you need to bend and move. They would probably be more comfortable for traveling than a pair of jeans would be. (I'm planning to put that to the test soon and will report back if I determine otherwise.) And final note, the pockets are fantastic. I can't speak to other body types but for my size, weight and height, these are absolutely a perfect pair of pants! Review: Best work pants I've found. - These are exactly what I've been looking for. Waist fits great with a "relaxed" fit in the legs that leaves room for crouching and moving around (which i do a lot of in the hvac/pipe work field) and plenty of pockets in the right spots. Great for winter as well as you have room for a layer underneath for fleece leggings or long John's. Nice durable canvas-like material that still has a bit of stretch. Honestly these are perfect for what I do at work and still somehow have a fitted silhouette even though they are considered relaxed fit. Long story short I really like them, and ordered 3 pairs. Definitely recommend, these are probably the best women's Utility work pants I've found so far and I've tried a decent amount. I'm 5'3 and currently 135ish pounds and ordered a size 4 regular

Even Better than Expected
Carhartt's reputation precedes itself, and I was even more surprised at how much I needed these pants in my life but didn't know it. The pockets!!!! Actual pockets that fit more than just lip balm! These are the best work pants I now own. I work as a technician in higher education so I'm frequently in weird positions repairing various things, or working with chemistry. The fabric of these pants is sturdy but very comfortable. I like the natural fibres. I don't think the pants on their own would keep me extremely warm on a cold day without layering underneath, but in temperate climates the material is perfect. Not to warm. The waist height was as expected. For those wondering about the fit, my measurements are hip-40", height-4'11", waist- 31". I purchased the size 10 short - the shortest length available and it was still slightly a bit long to wear with my sneakers, that was easily remedied by rolling up the legs a couple times and made the length perfect. The waist was definitely bigger than what I need and I had a bit of a gap, but I purchased the size that would fit my hips and used a carhartt belt to cinch the waist. Otherwise the pants are amazing. I love how many pockets there are and the placement of them. They have a little bit of stretch and end up relaxing after a few hours of wear. I came back to purchase a second pair and the quality is so good that I think these will last a good long while. Update 07/11/2025: The pants are still great but I noticed a difference in the number of pockets in two different colours. The black has additional pockets on the left, while the asphalt has fewer. I bought the same style the only difference was supposed to be the colour. Not sure why.

Waist band isn’t very stretchy
So if you’re used to pants with more spandex or elastic in them, go up a size. Otherwise I love them. They have the perfect pocket on the side for my walkie at work so I don’t have to clip it to me. They do wear pretty consistently on the inner thighs. No holes yet but the fabric is turning white in there. If you’re of the masc presenting persuasion, I’ve been told these are nice enough to be date pants as well. Just a little bonus if you want to make her brain go wow haha

UPDATED: Holes after 2 mos. Here's some fit/sizing feedback...
UPDATE #2. After casual wear, these have a hole in the thigh. Didn’t get caught on anything and wasn’t torn. It’s just worn. Not cool for ‘work’ pants only worn a couple months. C’mon Carhartt, do better UPDATE: So, these are nice and fitted after a wash, but at the end of the first day, and after a few days of wearing, they definitely loosened up. Notably, the crotch sags a bit. I still love the pants, and appreciate the stretch, which is great for crouching down, bending over, carrying things, etc, but wanted to clarify that these really are 'relaxed fit' after a few hours of wear. _______________________ So, relaxed fit means different things to different people, so I'll try to help clarify via my experience. I bought these in size 6 regular, thinking they'd be loose and a little long. I'm 5'7, about 130 or so. After one wash, these pants fit me exactly. The length is perfect. The fit is not in any way 'relaxed' or loose. (I'm *not* a skinny jeans person). These are definitely form fitted, but aren't tight like skinny pants...but for someone who wears regular pants, it feels kind of close to 'skinny'. The stretch in the pants makes them very comfortable. The rise is between low and high - sits right below the navel. I'm keeping them. They may end up being my favorite pants....

Inconsistent sizing
I want to give these pants 5 stars, but I have had such a problem ordering the right size. I had size 6, Carhartt slim fitting pants, that were too tight. 6 is the size I wear in my best fitting jeans and pants. So I then ordered my next pair in a size 8. These do not stay up without a belt. I then bought some lined Carhartts in a size 6. These fit comfortably. Now onto my current purchase: I ordered a 6...I could button them, but they were NOT comfortable at all. Way too tight in the waist. I returned them a replaced them with an 8. These fit pretty well upon trying them on. After a full day of working in them they became loose and saggy. Still more comfortable than being too tight, but how the frickin heck am I supposed to know what size to order when NONE of them have been the same?! I really like carhartt and think they are well made, but this is getting annoying. Work pants need to be comfortable and not something I'm pulling up all day or fighting to even move around in. With a size 6 being too small (sometimes)and an 8 being too big (or stretching from a point of comfortability to being too big), I'm left in the middle with no idea what size is needed. Consistency is key, Carhartt!

Superior Craftsmanship, Quality Materials, True-to-Size
Very happy with purchase. Color is more olive green than the photo. Rise is higher than expected. And the Size 6 tall, which I purchased, is longer than I anticipated based on other reviews. Still, the quality and fit are so exceptional that I love these pants and have worn them for two days straight. I will likely purchase another pair in a different color. I'm just trying to decide whether to order 6 regular or 6 tall. With the tall pair I purchased, I folded the bottoms of the legs to form narrow cuffs, which actually look quite nice.

Best work pants!
These work pants are an excellent value. They are made very tough, better than jeans and have adequate pockets. I ride to work on a bike in them and then work all day but they stay sturdy without showing wear. They are super comfortable and flattering. Not too heavy, so okay to wear in summer.
