Much better than Food Saver Bags but...
These bags are excellent. They appear to be a extruded in a heavier gauge plastic than the Food Saver variety and seal great with my Food Saver machine. I have 2 caveats though: The roll is huge and will not fit into my Food Saver until the roll is used up significantly. This is not that big of a deal for me since I seal my meat in bulk. Also, since the plastic is thicker, when the roll finally gets compact enough to fit into the roll slot, there isn't as much length left as you would normally have. Second caveat is that there is no white marker strip along the roll to write packing information. I use cheap white shipping labels and they have been working great. Can't beat the price and quality especially if you seal in large quantities.

Work great with Foodsaver V3825, but...
I bought this product to use with our upright Foodsaver V3825. I'd hoped it would work well, and in fact it does, forming a good seal, even with a bit of moisture in the seal area. However, the Foodsaver brand bags don't much care which side is up when you use them, smooth side up or channel side up. These Weston bags really require you to put the channel side up, or the V3825 simply won't draw a good vacuum from them, and the machine will keep running, trying to draw a vacuum that it can never reach. It's a very small issue, so that's why the 4 stars rather than 5. The bags work quite well in every other respect, and so long as you know to insert the bags channel side up in an upright machine, they'll do fine.

An Excellent Vacuum Bag at a Great price.
This product works very well - every time. I'm using an inexpensive Rival compact bag sealer - and this product works perfectly with the small sealer. This product is more expensive than using a ziplock type of bag. However, a vacuum sealed bag prevents freezer burn, every bag you make is exactly the right size, and you don't have to worry about it opening accidentally. It is more than worth the slightly higher cost. In reality I don't justify the higher cost in comparison because the vacuum bags actually serve a more specific need. I still use ziplock style bags for situations where the vacuum bags are less practical - although I find I use significantly fewer number of ziplock bags these days.

Made in China
Thinner plastic than expected. This product has difficulty sealing well. Two rows of seals required for unsuccessful first attempts at vacuum packing. I will not purchase this product for perishable foods again. I would possibly purchase this for dry foods like beans, rice, etc. What I have found helpful is to put a hard freeze on whatever food item is to be vacuum sealed as any liquid will result in failure of vacuum packaging.Far superior in sealing ability and plastic thickness is USA made ZipVac Universal brand that I found at Menards.

achieve great vacuum!
It appears that these bags are a bit thinner that the original Food Saver bags. For this reason they appear to achieve an even greater vacuum and the bag is extremely snug to the food product. This part is great. I like to reuse my bags as many times as I can so only time will tell how many times these bags can be reused. Hopefully they will hold up as well as the originals and the decreasing size (with each opening and trimming of sealing strip - about an inch) will be the only restriction.

Great for use with FoodSaver machines
When Cook's Illustrated reviewed vacuum sealers, their main complaint about the FoodSaver products was the price and lack of structural integrity of their bags. Their top pick was the machine that uses these bags, mainly because they maintained the vacuum seal in the freezer for a lot longer. But that machine was huge and expensive, so I wondered about using the better bags with the cheaper FoodSaver machine.I have been using these bags for over 6 months with my FoodSaver V2240, and they work really well. You use them just like any other bag; no special technique is required. They have the advantage that they can be vacuum sealed in any orientation (crosswise or lengthwise), unlike the FoodSaver bags which have evacuation channels that only work in one orientation.Update/TIP: If you use these bags sideways by making your own edge seals, be sure to trim off the excess plastic flaps that stick out past your seals. They provide a channel for outside air to leak into the vacuum slot, which often results in the pump running a long time and never achieving a good enough vacuum that the unit switches on the sealer.

Best bags, and greatest bang for the buck.!!!
Can't beat this price, comes out to be the cheapest per inch!! One side is thicker and textured the other clear and slightly thinner. Due to this awesome design the bags actually seal around the food more tightly and much closer than food saver or rival bags I have used in the past. In fact the worst bags I have yet to use have been food saver. Too think and never reach a perfect tight seal around the food. I sous vide a lot so a tight seal is extremely important to me. So far I have had 0 issues and have ordered the 11x50 and 15x50 twice. Don't get why some people complain that these are made in china. Pretty much everything you buy now comes from china especially if it saves you $$ in any way. A lot of things made in china are crap, but I have to honestly say these are def a deal and I could care less where they are made at this point. I am beyond satisfied after going through 3 different vacuum sealing bag companies in the past, paying more $$, and getting crappier results.

Cheaper than the SousVide Supreme bags, but inferior.
I bought this once I'd used up all the bags that came with myย SousVide Supreme kit . This Weston bag roll is slightly inferior because it is only ridged on one side so you can get bubbles on the other side of your steak, the plastic on the other side is thinner, and it tends to stick to the heat sealer. However, theย SousVide Supreme Vacuum Sealing Rolls ย are usually more expensive (per foot), and these Weston ones work well enough. Check the current prices, they seem to fluctuate.

I like that it is clear on one side and that ...
cheaper than other brands. I like that it is clear on one side and that it is unmarked. The only issue I have is that the ends curl slightly when you cut them making them a bit harder to line up in the sealer.
