Bought as a gift, interesting book, would have like more pictures less text.

This a book with great illustrations and informative text. But it is focused in the more representational and 'refined' African art and neglects the more abstracted and formally inventive forms, and the more magical 'fetish' aspects. So it is rather partial and inadequately presents what is for many the most interesting, and the most influential aspect for 20th century European art. Large images of dull pieces take up too much space.
