I decided to buy this restaurant guide when it came up during a recent flash sale and I have to say that I'm very glad that I did.Yes, some of the restaurants have very brief comments, or none at all, but if every single restaurant had extensive commentary then a book which already has around 950 pages would probably have to be expanded into several volumes. After all, this book not only covers Europe, you will find restaurants in Australia, Japan, Canada and many other places in here.In my opinion this book is meant to be used in the following ways: You're swayed by the comments and decide to go to a place, you try a place because it is in the book, or and this is the most shocking one: You search for a restaurant you spotted in the book and then use one of the many websites which offer reviews from actual customers, in order to make up your mind about whether to go there or not.I decided to take a huge chance recently and used this book to pick the restaurant to which I would take my girlfriend for her 30th birthday dinner in Paris, we both loved the food and best of all it ended up being fairly reasonable, coming out at €180 for both 10 course taster menus and wine, which could easily have been the cost per person at other restaurants.Personally I'm glad that I bought it and would be more than happy to recommend, but not lend, to my friends.

My nephew received this for Christmas. He is a real food buff who loves to eat in smart restaurants.My sister saw the book and suggested it as a birthday present. I am always happy to be given a hint or suggestion list for birthdays!She loves the book too, so I can only go on family' thumbs up' for this one.

Very interesting comments by chefs, or other renowned personalities in the food world, about restaurants where they like to eat.The comments are often brief, but telling. When several famous personalities recommend a restaurant you may never have heard of, you feel likegiven the opportunity, you should try it.

This looked like a good Christmas present, but was so much better than expected. Hundreds of famous Chefs give there favourite eateries, from small local cafés to fine dining experiences. Places all over the world are included as well.

This was a present for a chef. He was delighted with the book and said he had seen it but not read it, so was really pleased to get it for Christmas.

Bought this for a world traveller. It’s really cool! Wish there was more maps but it’s more like a phone book of all the places around the world to visit. It would be nice to have an updated version since this is from several years ago.

I purchased this book as a gift and it was a hit! The recipient is a bit of a foodie and travels a lot for his job, so it was fun for all of us to look through the book to find restaurants any of us had already been to, as well as find new ones to visit. My favorite part is that not every restaurant is expensive - local, reasonable favorites are also included. I plan on purchasing two copies of the new version when it's released - I only wish it had released before the holidays!
