Traveler Socks With Permethrin Bug Repellant - Protective Clothing for Men & Women

I've been traveling to countries with fear of harmful biting insects. I spray treat my clothing with Permethrin before packing. Purchasing these socks which have the permethrin built in gives me the added security and peace of mind.

I always get bit, we were in Africa for 2 weeks. I was never bit.

I bought the XL gray Insect Shield Traveler Socks with Permethrin Bug Repellant to help me cope with ticks near the tree line of my property.First, the Insect Shield folks are doing themselves a disservice but NOT stating that there are TWO pairs of socks in the package. I was pleasantly surprised to see the second unexpected pair of socks. A careful review of the marketing photos shows that there is a second pair of socks, however neither the title nor the packaging state the presence of two pairs of socks.I own a three-acre property that shares a third of its perimeter with a creek. Although this environment is exceptionally pleasant it is also a breeding ground for a variety of insects. There are insects that are welcome and then there are insects that are unwelcome such as ticks.Winter is coming at that time that I am writing this review so I will not be able to assess the efficacy of these socks until spring. My best test will be to count the number of tick bites I receive this upcoming season versus prior seasons.Beyond the Insect Shield socks' repellent qualities, they are aesthetically pleasing. I selected the grey XL size socks. The fit and finish are very good. I think that you could wear them with a casual outfit, however not so much with a suit. Of course, they are right at home in the great outdoors. They have a nice hand, no imperfections with the stitching, great fit, and they stay up on my legs. My only wish is that the Insect Shield folks would carry over-the-calf style socks. [I did a quick review of their website, and I did not see any socks that rise beyond the mid-calf. It is possible that I missed this option. I did see a pair of pants that I would consider buying – tick bites are not fun.]

I have friends who've used these and swear by them, and I am expecting them to save me from some nasty bites. I'll be wearing these in my garden, as I have had issues with chiggers the past 2 summers.Likes- comfortable amount of elasticity, and they don't leave marks- fit my size 9 feet comfortably-good for 70 washings!- care instructions on the paper sleeve, but also on the socks themselves-well-made, no manufacturing defects noted-no odor,and non-irritating-2 pair is a good deal- medium gray, won't show the dirt as muchWhat to know- you have to wash these separately from other clothing, so I will likely be hand- washing as I don't have any other permethrin-treated clothingI got these late in the season, after a couple of mild frosts, but I will be wearing them routinely next year. With 2 pair and 70 washings each, they should last at least 2 years for me, even wearing them for the occasional hike.

These are really nice socks. Soft, thick, and well made. I wore them to rake leaves, (we live in a wooded area with lots of deer and mice), and I was tick-free after several hours of being outside. I typically wear women's size 6.5 shoe, and the socks are true to size.Overall, I'm very happy with these socks and so glad they came with two pairs. I will wear these a lot for yard work and hiking.

The Insect Shield socks were ordered for use when working in the woods around our home.These are a polyester / cotton / spandex / rubber blend socks. The khaki colored socks were delivered, and it was noticed that the socks were nicely cushioned. I wear a size 13 shoe, and when tried on the socks fit perfectly. Also, even those these socks are advertised as a means to keep ones feet & legs protected from bugs when outside, these are plush & stylish enough they can be worn as dress socks. The socks were matched with a pair of khaki slacks, and they looked great. They were worn all day, and there was no discomfort in my feet due to thin socks.Frankly, I cannot comment on how effective the socks may be in repelling insects over a long period of time. However, when working in the wooded property around our home, I did not notice any bugs on my legs. Usually when I come in from that activity when not wearing a bug spray, I will have picked up a couple ticks on my lower pants or socks. That was not the case with these socks.BOTTOM LINE: These are some stylish socks that can be used when working outside or with a pair of slacks for business casual activities. The price is reasonable, and I would order them again.

Insect Shield is known for its innovative products with permethrin impregnated into the fabric. I have used their clothing (shirts, pants, socks) for years, and all of it has held up well to regular use in the outdoors. These socks are no exception, with a good weave, good fit, and nice cushioning. Surprisingly, the smell of permethrin was much stronger than that of my previous purchases, making me wonder if they have changed their process somewhat. I rinsed out the socks to remove any excess permethrin, and the socks work as expected.

I LOVE Insect Shield's professionally treated clothes and blankets and these socks, especially in black, are my new obsession. After this especially intense insect prevalent summer, I have nearly every color of socks from Insect Shield and wore the grey ones almost religiously all summer while fighting a fierce flea infestation after camping with our dogs that just was agony until I found these socks and all of Insect Shield brands protection line online which helped be a great line of defense against the sharp bites day and night. Bugs are killed or repelled and I finally am winning the war against this season's horrific fleas and camping with greater comfort and style now that I am wearing black socks with pants tucked in and even fleece-lined tights with skirts stylishly protected from any ticks, fleas or mosquitos all summer and winter long. I want my entire sock drawer to be premetherin treated or from Insect Shield from now on.
