Q: what direction does the air flow?

It flows up (assuming you have it mounted such that the writing is right-side-up). If you need to reverse the flow, you could mount it upside down, or I would imagine you could also open the case and flip the fans over.

Q: Based on everything I can find online, dimensions are 20x20x2 in, whereas based on the product picture that's impossible? What are the Dimensions?

That was probably the box dimensions. I no longer have this product, but it is 1u tall, 17” wide (19” with the rack ears), and I think somewhere between 8” - 10” deep for the 2 fan model, if memory serves.
