This is an authentic Lee carbine crimp die. Why would you need this? If reloading 40 S&W you may come across brass that has the famous Glock bulge. You can resize using an under size die and usually that will remedy the issue. The Lee carbide crimp die is another step the will bring the case back into spec while adding a crimp. As not all handguns are the same and some tolerances are different this die ensures correct feeding if all other aspects of reloading are adhered to.

I don't know how I ever reloaded reliable ammo without this tool - I guess I got lucky and just had good brass. If you reload for an autoloader - any caliber, this tool is a MUST have. When I first began reloading, I was using relatively new brass, but as the multiple of reloads increased on my brass supply, I began having issues with feeding - this tool has completely eliminated that problem (along with a Wilson gauge), I now have -0- reliability problems and can get back to enjoying my range time.

If you are running your semiauto reloads, in a revolver, with moon clips, this what the Dr ordered. Great value.

I needed one of these for loading 10mm ammo. Like everything, things have gone up so finding one of these for less than full price as an Amazon Warehouse item made my day. These are used on loaded ammo to make sure it will work in any firearm with a standard chamber. It also puts a crimp on the case that is better than most other dies without crushing the case. Lee also makes their "bulge buster" that with using this die allows you to push cases through it to remove the bulge that occurs on cases used in certain guns. So instead of having "pregnant" looking cases, you can smooth them out to where they should be with a simple stroke of your press handle. Lee has come up with some really great ideas and this is one of them, and for less than anybody else. Keep up the good work Lee and the great deals Amazon.

This is used along with with the Bulge buster kit from Lee and it does remove the bulge from .40 cases.I watched a YouTube video where a user also used it to remove the bulge from completed bullets that would not pass a case gauge. I wasn't sure how safe this was, but thought I'd give it a try to remove the bulge on a 20+ rounds. I figured it must be true, after all it was on the internet.With a lot of caution I ran 20+ rounds through the die and each passed the case gauge test and fired fine in a Glock pistol (LoneWolf barrel).Please keep in mind, this worked for me but I'm not recommending passing completed bullets through the Factory Crimp die, or firing the bullets from a Glock pistol (with or without a fully supported barrel). All I can say it that if a bullet doesn't pass the case gauge, I will run it through the .40 Factory crimp die.

I love Lee Factory Crimp dies. I have them for every pistol and rifle caliber I reload. They just seem to create that perfect crimp for your plinking rounds and even for some of the more accurate loads I produce. I am not a competitive shooter, just a hobby shooter - but I think that the loads I have put together fire pretty accurately.I also like to point out that on semi-auto handguns (and carbines), that prior to owning this tool I would have to deal with the occasional failure to feed or the beloved jam of my firearm using the crimp on my seating dies. Ever since I started using my Lee Factory Crimp Dies I have had zero mishaps (hopefully not jinxing myself here) with failure to feed or jams in my firearms with reloads.Get yourself these in all of your favorite calibers - it is a very small investment to ensure rounds aren't being wasted on the range due to ramping or feeding issues.
