Pleasure to use
We are homeschooling due to coronavirus, we did not get on with the schools website so we are using books. This particular one is one of our favourites, the pieces of work aren’t too long and therefore my son doesn’t moan even if it’s a piece he doesn’t particularly enjoy. It’s also nice and easy to mark, The answers are in the book but can be pulled out easily so only I get to see them. My son is 10 coming up for 11 and this book is perfect.

Great comprehension
I love these reading comprehension books. There are different books for different age ranges (I use the other ones for differentiation). These ask a good range of questions as well as having a variety of interesting texts. They’re a good assessment to see how children are getting on and what questions you need to work on as a class.

Bond SATs Skills: Reading Comprehension Workbook
Bond workbooks are one of the best on the market for the 11+ or SATs success (I would say both these and the CGP range are excellent). There are a huge range of workbooks in the Bond Range, but this one is for 10-11 year olds and is for KS2 SATS Reading Comprehension. The book contains ten units of comprehension activities, a progress chart, a pull out answer book and a list of useful key terms and phrases. In English for this age group, there are also a Spelling and Vocabulary workbook, a Grammar and Punctuation Workbook and English Test Papers available; as well as Stretch workbooks for the more able. There are a good range of comprehension passages in the book – fables, folk tales, non-fiction, poetry and more. As well as a good choice of passages upon which the questions are based, there are also different types of questions: short answers, longer answers and multiple choice.Obviously, the SATs exams have changed a lot recently, with levels being replaced with standards. It would have been helpful to know which score you need to achieve to be working either ‘towards’ the expected standard, ‘at’ the expected standard or ‘above’ the expected standard. These test units do have a different number of questions, so it was perhaps difficult to give too much guidance. However, a total of 120 marks are possible in the English SATs, which include 70 marks for the Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling papers, combined, and 50 marks for the English Reading paper. As such, the Reading paper is worth quite a lot of marks and the practice tests in this book should help your child improve their score and highlight any problems they have with the questions.

Great revision book.
The Bond books are excellent and this one is a perfect revision exercise for Sats. The texts are not too long, clear and concise language and we'll laid out. I recommend to any parents looking to help their children at home to prepare for the tests.

Not the appropriate level for KS2 SATS - be very cautious
This is, no way, graded to KS2 SATS. It's essentially an 11+ practice book with questions aimed at children who have undertaken specific 11+ preparatory study. The problem with using it as KS2 SATS practice is that you will be inflicting hugely and excessively high demands on a child who is, no doubt, already facing some stress in terms of wanting to perform at her best.Unless you have bought into the 11+ scheme, and prepared the child for it accordingly, this really should be avoided. This is simply not at all graded to KS2 SATS and there is very little, if any difference, between the level of the questions here and in the "Stretch" version of the same subject.
