The author did his historical homework and rightly concluded that Archimedes was the quintessential mathematician...the Einstein of the Greek age. Except that he had engineering ability and put his math mind to practical use. I agree with the author that he and Da Vinci would have been comparable in designing military hardware.

I expected a larger volume, and was unaware that there was so little history to report.Still, a good read, and an interesting character.
