The Vietnam War: A Military History
J**T
A history everyone should be familiar with!
I'm a US Army veteran, 1968-1970. I was not sent to Vietnam, but I knew plenty of people who were, and lost high school and college friends who were killed there. This book is an exceptional, thorough history of the whole affair, clearly organized and written, and sourced in great detail, by far the best coverage I know of the US participants (including the "grunts" who fought on the ground), the South and North Vietnamese soldiers, the politicians (who I hope are all burning in hell), and the Vietnamese people. The book should get the Pulitzer and many other prizes, and should be carefully read by everyone with any interest in 20th-century history. Please read it!

Gift/ Maybe
I bought this for my husband who is a Vietnam veteran. He thought he would like to read this book, I am not certain that he will read it. As many other soldiers, he was exposed to Agent Orange and now has a lung disease. He seems reluctant to read the book so I will either give it to our son or donate it to the library. It is an excellent book but the memories are not for him.
