Little Heroes

You can take your child to museums, plays, shows and playgrounds. Those are all wonderful. But consider enriching their quet, internal world, their inner mind, with these stories.I first heard Jay O'Callahan's stories when I borrowed his cassette tapes from the local library for my children, about 25 years ago. I have purchased the CDs as gifts for relatives and friends. And now I am purchasing them for my four year old granddaughter.Our favorite stories on this CD are the "The Red Ball" and "Michael the Grasshopper". Characters and quotes from the stories often slip into our conversations. Wait until you meet all of the characters Michael encounters! Charming, funny, wise (or not-so wise) and human!Jay O'Callahan is a well-known, master storyteller. His voice, characterizations and tales are intelligent, imaginative, positive and gentle. This CD is my favorite of all the ones I've heard. I also purchased "Litlle Heroes". The stories are perfect for car rides because they are so engaging. Children actually LISTEN to them! My granddaughter asks for them often.Jay O'Callahan's stories are a must-have for anyone who spends time with a child.

Both my boys listened to this when they were little. Now my grandson gets to enjoy too. We have a signed cassette copy by Jay Ocallahan. We would go to the Applichian Storytelling Festival at Mansfield University in Mansfield , PA. Was a great festival Jay was there so the kids got to meet him and of course he signed the cover in the cassette case.. still have that too..

I grew up listening to Michael and the Grasshopper on long car rides. I bought it for the nostalgia, as it had probably been 20 years since I last heard it. To my surprise it still holds up quite well. The stories are engrossing (and quite strange!) and Jay O'Callahan's voices are well done. To this day my 35 year old sister will occasionally remark, "It will act like a bubble if you treat it like a bubble." Better advice I could not give.

Love the CD and so does my 2yr old. I heard some of this as a joke on a long road trip in college, and I fell in love with the stories and never forgot them or the songs. Now that I have my own little guy, I had to buy, and I could not be happier. Get it, your life will be better for it.

Jay O'callahan tells a story like no one else! My own children were introduced to this nationally known storyteller at the National Storytelling Convention in Tennessee and have loved him ever since. Listening to stories is a great alternative to TV in that the child must imagine the characters and be able to keep up with the storyline only by listening. I use this and other story tapes as teaching tools in elementary and junior high Enlgish.

Very good story teller but the stories lack substains that my children could relate too. They show no interest in listening to the DVD again.Some of the stories were cute and funnyI just have to rate it okay

This cassette changed my life as a child. The morals and stories are hilarious and inspiring and appropriate for any age. Just ordered the CD to revisit these wonderful memories.
