Healthy and tasty cleanser for the blood.
Really nice tea apart from the spinach smell. When made correctly with a tiny bit of honey, it's a refreshing cold drink for the summer. It's a lovely green and you can tell it's fresh.

Great tea if you like earthy teas
I knocked on the small, round door. The entrance was lined with several well-tended plants. Their fragrance mingled with the unmistakable smell of pipe tobacco. After a few moments I knocked again. Finally, a voice from within called out, “No one’s home!” “I’ve come for the tea,” I called back. “At your own bidding, as you recall.” There was a rattling at the lock, then the door pulled inward enough to emit a frowning face. “The tea, eh? You and who else?” His eyes snatched looks about, as though spies crouched behind every bush. “Just me, I assure you. I have your invitation here.” I held up the yellowed scroll, turning the broken seal to face him. He held out his hand, took the scroll, pulled the ribbon, then after confirming its contents waved me inside. “You can never be too sure,” he muttered. I stepped inside. The strong smell of tobacco mixed with burnt toast and something savory assaulted me. My stomach growled. “It’s such an honor to meet you—” “No time for pleasantries. Follow me and get some food for that belly. Not sure why folks don’t eat before they come. I’m not made out of food, you know.” He hurried down a hallway. “Come, come.” I stooped a bit to follow. Low-burning sconces shed enough light to prevent whacking my head and shoulders on the artfully crafted woodwork lining this odd man’s abode. The hallway turned and opened into a sizable kitchen complete with table and chairs—one large enough for my frame. He motioned to it. I settled myself in. “Thank you for seeing me,” I said. “I promise not to take too much of your time.” “And I promise you won’t.” He ladled a steaming scoop of something chunky into a bowl, grabbed a wooden soup, and plopped the two down in front of me. “Eat. Talk between bites.” The small man stared at me across the low table. His fingers drummed impatiently. I blew on a spoonful of the stew, mouthed the bite, and began. “As I mentioned in my first letter, it took considerable time to trace the tea back to you. And if you truly are its source, then I’m here to find out how I can procure more. You see, I think the tea is quite good. Nothing else has quite the rare combination of body, aroma, and aftertaste. Of course it’s not for everyone. Some of my comrades thought it was a bit too, umm, how should I put this...” “Grassy?” he asked. “Yes, that’s it exactly.” I took another bite of the savory stew. “Not surprising. Not surprising at all,” he said. “Most of you folk gulp down an insipid powdery brew that inns make by the barrel full. And they actually like the taste of that swill! ‘Sweet tea’ I think they call it. Should call it ‘sweat tea’ because that’s the closest thing to that bilge water. Hmph!” I laughed. “Agreed. Yet even among the more discerning there are those who think your tea is bit too earthy. I heard one of them say he might as well chew on hay.” My host snorted. “Not sure if anything can be too earthy. To each his own.” “Yes, well, the packaging was a bit odd. For example, this here...” I pulled out the empty tea bag and flattened it out. What does this word Sencha mean? Is that a company name? And these symbols... They look like writing. What are they?” “Sencha is the type of tea, and a good Sencha tea should always be earthy. The other symbols are the writing of the people who harvest the tea. You don’t think I grow it in my own garden, do you? It requires the right climate and altitude. The people that grow this tea live in far-off mountains in distant lands.” “Distant lands? How do you come by it then? It must take weeks, maybe months, for a shipment to arrive.” “A few years ago it did take weeks, but a modern distribution system solved that. Now it arrives in just a couple days.” I blinked. “A couple days? How is that possible?” He leaned in. “Just between you and me, understand?” I nodded. “It’s flown on the backs of trained dragons,” he whispered. “A mere two days is all it takes now.” I whistled. “Amazing. Can others order shipments? Or does this far-off people ship only to you?” He waved a hand. “There is nothing secret about all this. The person you need to see lives down by the river.” “By the river? How will I find him?” “Her. Look for the largest woman you can find, an Amazon in her own right. She’ll take your order.” With that, he hurried me out and locked the door behind.

No Better Tea For The Price (on Amazon, at least)
TL;DR: It's really good tea, it ships faster and cheaper than anything from Yunomi, and often ships faster than Amazon estimates (I credit Ocha & Co. with being quick on the draw when it comes to mailing orders). I've tried many of the price-per-gram comparable sencha on Amazon, but this has been my primary tea for the last year. The following contains detailed descriptions as well as my brewing methodology. In terms of flavor, you can tell when a manufacturer has actual concern for the quality of their tea. You can buy bulk "sencha" for dirt cheap and en-masse, sure, but it will taste like garbage. No matter how you brew it, bad tea tastes bad. Paradoxically, the wrong brewing can also make good tea taste bad, and fukamushicha is a highly temperamental type of tea. This is problematic for many making their first forays into the world of drinks like matcha, sencha, and its many derivatives. In decent swaths of the west, particularly the United States, the most complex your average tea gets is dropping some boiling water on a tea bag, waiting a couple minutes, and calling it a day. I would caution anyone reading this and considering buying this tea that if you treat it like black tea, you will ruin it. I shudder to think how many people have tried teas like this one only to brew them wrong and be turned away from it forever. This tea is, for lack of better words, amazing. The care that goes into its production is apparent in the flavor, a rich brew with minimal to nonexistent bitterness and fantastic umami when brewed correctly. Speaking of how to brew this tea... After a lot of experimentation, I've discovered that my favorite brewing method is 2.5-3g of tea per 100mL of water. This is because I opt for a water temperature on the lower end between 61 and 63 degrees centigrade, and steeping time of 45 seconds for the first two brews. If "two brews" sounds strange, and it may to those unfamiliar with the particulars of teas like this one, it can be brewed repeatedly to produce as many as 5 pots of tea from one pot worth of leaves. In my experience, after the first two, an additional 1-2 degrees and 5 seconds will help to maintain strength and flavor. The third brew, with these specifications, is a little more complex in flavor, but a bit milder than the first two. Subsequent brews will be noticeably milder. Overall, this is a remarkable tea for the price. For anyone looking to make a first venture into the wonderful world of sencha, this is an excellent starting point. If you feel a little under-equipped, I highly recommend a look at Hario's teaware, which can also be found here on Amazon, as well as an accurate thermometer and a scale capable of measuring at .1g increments. This is also an excellent tea for those like me who might be willing to splurge on a more expensive brew for special occasions, but have to make some considerations about the cost of our daily drink.
