A must for all bike diy enthusiasts
Great bike maintenance manual. This guide shows all of the jobs that you need to do from punctures to changing gear cogs in a clear and easy format. It shows useful tips and has FAQ's to explain some of the technical terms. It also shows where you need to use special tools if required. Highly recommended.

Could save you money
A clear helpful guide to cycle maintenance. A major strength to the book is the clear helpful photography which enables you to see clearly what you are reading about. Beginner or already maintaining your bike to some extent this will be useful. With technology moving forward in bike build so rapidly we all need to update our manuals now and then and this in my opinion is a very good place to start.

This is a scam - stay clear of this magazine and get a proper bike book
I'm shocked to see that this product has 2 5-star ratings and cannot help but suspect that these reviews are biased by financial incentives. I am an independent bike mechanic with a fair experience of the real world (see my article here [...] ) and I found this book worse than useless as it simply angered me. It is full of adverts (I thought 9 quid would spare the media barrage of normal magazines), uses ridiculous flowery language for describing basic concepts (a couple of examples selected from the first pages I looked at are "A persistent noise from your bike can drive you mad." (p.20), "Wear some wellies, rubber gloves, and waterproof clothing as you will then be able to concentrate properly" (p.14)) and makes some statements that are simply wrong ("Gear cables are the one element in the gear system that must be friction-free at all times" (p.83), "[The bottom bracket is] the biggest cause of noise and to solve problems you will have to strip it out and rebuild it regularly"I am astonished that the publishers are allowed to sell this magazine in the "book" section. I find it disgusting that some rubbish company is making a short-term profit by ripping-off people genuinely wanting to improve their bike mechanic skills.Instead of buying this book you would be better off visiting Sheldon Brown's amazing bike website. If you want to buy a reference book, I recommend Park Tool Big Blue Book Of Bicycle Repair - Volume II, which I've also reviewed.

A Good Book Despite Negative Reviews
It's suprises me to see some negative reviews, having taught within this field I feel the reviews are very biased towards their own limited knowledge or thinking they have knowledge, in honesty I would like to see them even attempt to write a book to this standard. It has a good section on p10 and p11 for setting out as a cycle mechanic and what current tools would be required. Also the adverts are good as allows the learner to have a basic understanding of current marketing and different products available. I have to agree with one of the comments that it is not an entry level book as it does require some basic prior knowledge. In honesty I have the Big Blue Book and it is ok but this is the one I refer to the most and sutherlands manual from time to time as I have to realise I do not know everything. Overall I feel that as a working mechanic within this field and also a instructor it is a very good book and would like to thank the author for providing up to date knoweledge, I hope he will do another book soon. Many thanks

Basic Bike Keeping
I bought this book after reading a comparison review in a cycle magazine and it is as reviewed, namely it deals with all the essentials of looking after a modern bicycle. This fulfilled my needs in as much as cycles have moved on since I last bought a new bike and I needed information on the care of disc brakes etc. It does not go into electronic gear shifting, but nor do I so I am well suited.
