These are a 2 in 1. They do protect from slugs without killing them. Slugs are an important food for many wild creatures. And some slug killers can accumulate higher up the food chain and cause real problems. Not a problem with these.And secondly as they degrade they feed the soil and the plants that they once protected.

This is the third year that I have used wool pellets around my strawberries, and I've found it to be the most effective slug-friendly and environmentally-friendly way to deter the little critters (you won't deter them all). Use liberally and water the pellets as soon as you get them down to stop them blowing away and the slugs getting in anyway.

I bought this as I had an Angels Wings plant being destroyed by snails. I followed the instructions and about an hour later lo and behold a snail was on its way up the side of the pot so I waited to see what would happen. It entered the area with the pellets and got straight back out. It moved around the rim of the pot and tried going in again. Again it got back out. On the third try it went straight across a good 15cm of pellets into the centre stalk. So I have seen first hand that this product doesn't actually work. Pity as it was looking good for a while there.Update - whilst there is the odd nibble at this plant it has definitely deterred the snails/slugs so I'm upping the rating

At last I have found something that works to repel snails and slugs.It's just a pity that I paid £20 for express delivery for the next day, but it didn't arrive until two days later. I am still waiting for my refund! Very poor customer service.

We had a virtually intact hosta for the first time using this.If sprinkled too thickly, it can create a mat of wool that keeps the ground underneath dry, as the water rolls of the wool away from the plant.

Did not deter slugs or snails at all - actually seemed to attract them more. Plants absolutely destroyed within hours of putting down a liberal layer of these pellets.

I really want to use natural pest control for the sling and snail infestation in my garden this year, so I bought this. Unfortunately my snails are bullet proof and this does not deter them, especially once it has rained and the wool then forms a kind of hard crust on the soil surface. I have seen the snails just sliming straight over it without any fear whatsoever. It looks ugly too which is a downer. Disappointed that I have to keep picking the snails off at night with a torch instead.

A brilliant eco and pet/wildlife friendly way of preventing slugs and snails from annihilating plants. My hostas usually end up like doilies, but not any longer.The initial smell, upon opening the packet, is strong, but once on the garden you don’t notice it. Highly recommend.
