So I have been using this router for about 5 months and the issue with this is its range as many of the other reviews have also mentioned that the range is less yes it is indeed true and this router struggles in 1000sqft house and signal levels fluctuate heavily sometimes at the same place I get decent speeds at certain time it doesn't even connect the router has good functionality I am using it as a wisp extender for normal people as a repeater to repeat my Airtel wifi but the airtel one outshines this by a heavy margin and for someone needing wired connection the wired connection of all D-Link products are good I also have D-Link dir 615 and it's 2.4 ghz range is extremely powerful almost twice of dir 825 I will say that no router in this price range has good range. And yes this router runs on 1.0.4 firmware version with support for easymesh I know many people need this so here you go. Tx Power on both band is 20dbm.

I am using the Dlink DIR-825 router as an Access Point. The router was a little tricky to setup at first mostly because the default login Password given on the Box doesn’t work. You have to try out logging into the Router Setup page by using WPS mode and then do the setting up. All of it takes time. Moving on, the positive points here are the 5G and 2.4GHz modes which allow you to get maximum speed from your high speed internet connection. Also, there are 4 Lan Ports which are all GIgabit Ports allowing your connected devices to run at maximum speed. This means that you can get speeds up to 867 mbps if you have a Gigabit internet Connection. Also, there is a USB 2.0 port which allows you to share your files over the network easily. The negative aspect is clearly the range of the WiFi signal. The 5Ghz signal barely makes it to about 10-15 feet from the router. And 2.4ghz connection also faces a similar condition. It can reach a better distance but speed gets really compromised. So, to sum up the Gigabit Lan Ports and the USB port are the best aspects of this router. The WiFi range on the other hand and the complexity to setup the Router are the biggest negatives. It could have been a great device but eventually it is only slightly above average.

Terrible item. Both Wifi bands disappear all the time! You need to restart the router at least once a day! Sadly threw the box out, so I can’t return it!
