The Beast: Complete Season 1 [DVD] [2009]

I loved this series. Big respect to Patrick Swayze for shooting this despite the challenges he faced at the time, which made it extra emotional to watch, especially the final episode. The story lines were great and held interest. It certainly kept me entertained during this pandemic and back to back episodes are what's needed. Episode 4 caught my eye as the cast were wearing masks, a familiar sight in normal every day life for most of us. Great job all round.

really liked this season. sad to see how swayzes illness becomes more apparent throughout this series.yet it did not affect the great acting from him.a great cop series, showing that people are not what you think they are.each episode is a build up to everything they do centers around one job from the past, the story is well written keeping you guessing throughout on who is good or bad.several very good actors in this one each playing their role brilliantly.a really enjoying programme altogether.

Watched this the first time around and was sad when it got cancelled. Was looking for something to watch & found this again - just as good now as it was first time around. Patrick plays a great character so opposite to the ones he's famous for.

The Beast is simply fantastic. If you enjoyed Patrick Swayze in Dirty Dancing and any of his other films you will love this series. I believe from his autobiography that he got this series as he was diagnosed with cancer. His character Charles Barker is an edgy undercover agent always slightly on the edge of wrong and right. Barker and his newly qualified partner played by Travis Fimmel take on arms dealers among others and try to keep personal and professional lives seperate. I personally think this is Patrick Swayze at his best. The Beast is action packed and at the end wants you leaving more. I don't think you could continue without Mr Swayze. This isn't a particularly long series 13 episodes but is very entertaining and well worth a watch. 5*

He faught more than the baddies while on the set of the Beast, the extras themselves on the dvds are worth the money, a piece of history that will not be forgotten by so many. great series. saw this a few years ago on youview and had to get it on disc. shame it`s not available on bluray, but still very good quality on ordinary dvd. Patrick Swayze gave one of the best performances of his carrer- now sadly missed. I was unsure about travis fimmel in this the first time I watched it, but he actually seemed pretty good after the second time of watching. pity there will be no second season for obvious reasons, but it did more or less come to a sort of conclusion after just the one series. great stuff!

This was gripping right from the first episode. You very quickly get hooked on the complexity of the relationship between the characters played by Patrick Swayze and Travis Fimmel. This is truth AND consequences... Just who is out to get them? It has been said in tv review pages that this is the character that Patrick was born to play - I would have to agree, It was such a shame that the series didn't continue after Patricks death with Travis Fimmels character and how he moved forward from all the revelations and coped with the things he had done.
