A geek's delight!
This is my second Mova globe. The first one was the 4.5" Satellite View with Cloud Cover. It had an interesting look, but I kind of like the white and gold one better. But with any of the Mova globes, the effect is astonishing. Two things pop into mind that make anyone scratch their head wondering how the laws of physics can be defied: 1) How does it just keep turning with nothing driving it, and 2) How does it touch the stand with apparently no friction whatsoever.I had the first globe for years before it started acting inconsistently recently, so I just replaced it with this new one. The globe sat on my desk in my office, which is somewhat bright with fluorescent lights. I never needed to put it near a window. I wish I had a nickel for every person who stopped to look at it, stooping to look underneath it, shifting positions, staring, moving around it, with a puzzled look on their face. When I first saw a Mova globe on someone's desk, I couldn't take my eyes off of it. I had to have one.I'm a geek, both professionally and personally. This globe can't be beat by how it looks, how it works, and the sheer effect it has on the observer. I tip my hat to the genius who invented this work of technical art.

If knocked over it stops working.
Beautiful to look at and fascinating to watch. Be careful not to knock it off the stand on hard surface it will stop rotating.

Remarkable
This is my first MOVA globe, and it won’t be my last. The globe is a marvel of beauty and functionality – it moves with the grace of a planetary body in space, very slowly and evenly as long as there is a bit of ambient light to charge its internal solar cells. An internal magnet helps drive the motion as well, just as true North triggers a compass needle. It’s an ingenious combination of natural forces that produces this truly remarkable effect. The design of the visible map of the Earth is also well done, itself encased in a transparent shell while floating inside without contacting the shell.

As the world turns-
I saw this globe at a friend's house and knew I had to get one for my dad. I gave it to him for Christmas and my mom says he put it on his desk and he loves it and it looks awesome. This thing is super cool, in that, it turns inside of a casing because of how our earth spins. So, no batteries, no solar, nothing needed to make it work except our spinning world! It's an awesome gift and very unique and not everyone is going to have one. So, what do you get your dad who has everything? This globe!!!

As the World Turns
Amazing creation. It slowly turns counterclockwise, energized by light--any light. And counterclockwise is the way our earth turns. Centerpiece, conversation piece, on any table.
