Rasta Imposta Paddle Ball

This is a great idea for a costume and the costume itself is well-designed. It's just not well-made. Two big problems: the paddle is not firm enough and flops around all over the place and the ball is attached very poorly (it is not upright like the pic suggests) and comes right off. Good thing I can sew because I attached the ball by sewing the string to felt and then sewing it to a piece of felt attached to the back of the fabric. That was great except after only wearing it for a 1/2 hr, the ball got a hole and deflated. The biggest problem was how to get the paddle rigid enough to look like a paddle. I couldn't iron on stiff interfacing because the costume would have probably melted from the iron. I could have sewn on the interfacing but that wouldn't have worked because the costume would look "baggy" on the outside. The best solution was to sew on boning all around the edges of the paddle (what a pain in the a*s that was) and it was good enough for the paddle to look round when worn but it wasn't perfect and certainly not at all like the picture.

It was fine. I used a pool noodle on the inside you keep the edges firm

Great costume. Great price. Easy to put on and take off. Everyone thought it was funny. Glad I bought it.
