This is a fun set! If your having issues make sure you make a long press on the trains power button to turn it on. You will also need to update the firmware of the train to work with all of the sets it comes with. We love Brio and the quality of the set is great. One negative is that it didn’t come with a controller for the train you need to use an app on a device or the buttons on the train. The amount of pieces and accessories make this a great value. We added this to our other set to make a huge train. The best part of brio is the open ended design options. It allows parents and kids to be creative. My child’s favorite part of this set is the train wash. The train will go in make washing sounds and then back out. I personally like the train station stop. One last feature we liked is that you can record your own sound for the train. Overall we loved the product.

Purchased for our 4 year old grandson last year to remain at our house when he visits. Little man is a train fanatic and loves this beautifully made toy set months later. The pieces fit together very well with so many possibilities. The bins make for easy storage. Definitely worth the money.

I would absolutely love this set if the trainwash/service station worked. I returned a complete set because there was no way to replace only the trainwash and this one doesn't work either. I searched and called for help but could not find assistance. This set is too expensive to have components that do not work!😣 What makes it worse is this is the part my grandson favors the most. It's brand new and does not work!

I purchased this for my son after observing him play with a set in a childrens toy store. The toy itself is sturdy and high quality no risk of splinters from any of the tracks.He enjoys watching the trains move but even more so enjoys building the tracks. He enjoys the battery powered trains more that the manual ones. If you know your child will enjoy then it’s worth it. This has been his favorite toy since I purchased it a month ago.

It was expensive but... unlike other similar products, this comes with trains that can be controlled from your cellphone. So the boys made this really large track layout as they could drive the trains all over the place. Hours of fun. We also had some extra track and a few other additional pieces. They love this. The more room you have the better.

This BRIO Smart Tech Deluxe set is a complete and durable playset that is built to last. It features several innovations to sets from previous years; including the spacers that separate the track into two, the "mountain" track that now includes a center component to hold onto the wooden track piece and the "Smart Tech" interactive plastic pieces. The set arrives in two reusable plastic tubs with plenty of space for additional pieces if you already have a set or will be purchasing more BRIO pieces in the future. These pieces are top-of-the-line in wooden train sets and you receive enough pieces (tracks, people, decorations, etc.) to create a very interactive and detailed train "world". The set arrives with a map to create the suggested "world" with every piece provided but the fun of this set is that there is enough to build any sort of setup you can imagine.One issue that brought my review down to four stars is that the main Smart Tech train was difficult to get started. It arrives without batteries and although the batteries we installed were brand new, we could not get the train to start at first. After removing and replacing the same batteries in the train, it was able to turn on but initially had difficulty remaining on. After a few moments of pressing the "ON" button at the top of the train, we were able to get it to work consistently, as demonstrated in the attached video. It is possible to have your train working but it does take some patience and restarting with the initial battery installation.The Smart Tech pieces include a station where the train docks and "tunnel" pieces which cause the train to interact (such as reversing, flashing different colors, making a noise, etc.). The train has a lot of power, enough to continue along the track regardless of incline or turns. It can pull along several train cars and the path can be changed by flipping the red guiding piece on the split tracks.This set is a wonderful collection to begin your family's train set or to add onto an already established set. The BRIO wooden pieces are the most durable and quality-crafted but are also compatible with other brands. This classic, interactive toy is one that will continue to entertain regardless of the age of the child and can also be fun for the entire family. With a starter set such as this, regular add-ons can be great gift ideas for the future. I would definitely recommend this set.

I was a little worried about this set because there’s a few negative reviews but our son absolutely loves it. He’ll be 3 in a few months and has been playing with it for hours every day since he got it for Christmas. Great buy.

This train is fabulous however it's Christmas Day and I put the batteries in and the engine won't work. I tried THREE new packs of batteries, definitely the train. Stinks because our four year old is beyond disappointed and we already have the track set up. Hopefully, customer service will just send us a new engine because breaking the track down now is not an option and this already put a dark cloud on Christmas morning. If you buy this, TEST the engine before you gift it. The rest of the train is well crafted and the track is fun!

It is one of the best purchases I’ve made for my son. I first spotted it at a friend’s house and saw how much he loved playing with it. The quality, design, and sheer joy it brings make it worth every single penny.

Next to the other brands, this stands out in terms of quality and fit. The trains are nicer, the track is nicer, the storage bins are a nice touch. Got them on sale which took the sting out a little. Kid loves them, they make noises and they're programmable by Bluetooth. Also controllable by Bluetooth which is neat but useless for a 3 year old. Will provide years of entertainment

The Brio record and play engine was not able to move at all.
