Motive Gear R8.8RMK Rear Master Kit for a Ford 8.8" Differential with Koyo Tapered Bearings

I had a failed pinion bearing and needed replacements quick. This kits had everything needed, so I rebuilt my entire Differential. Got my foxbody 5.0 back on the street chasing Mopars down!

Overall, I've been able to make the kit work, but there are issues with the shims.Not enough of a selection of shims.Comes with .010, .015x2, .018, and .020 pinion shims. Really could include .005x2, .010x2, .015, and .020.Has 2 shim bases, a few .006, couple .010, few .012, a .018, a few .024, a couple of thick pieces of punched, unground steel shims I'm using as end pieces against the case. All the actual shims has burrs like the dies were dull, throwing measurements off bby as much as .005 per side. I had to deburr and lap each shim for use.Really could use a better selection. Maybe some .002 and .004 thick shims. It's really dificult to get backlash right when the thinnest shim is .006 and backlash tolerance is only .004.

great kit !`be better if the supplied new axle bearings and seals since you have to remove the axles .

The bearings and seals are great as well the parts are top of the line except the shims. Carrier bearing shims are terrible and not enough to do the job. Also because its a pack of shims there is nothing to keep the thin shims centered. Had to purchase extra shims to finish job. Buy the U.S. GEAR KIT FOR A FEW BUCKS MORE YOU WON'T BE SORRY.
