Seems to work to get our dogs to stop fighting
We bought this stuff at the recommendation of a pet behaviorist (yes yes...a dog whisperer, I know). Our two female dogs (11 yr old Queensland/pit mix and 3 yr old Boxer) had been fighting lately and we were desperate for anything to get them to stop. Well, after learning what signs to look for (the staring, blocking dog door, etc) and using this stuff, we have noticed a HUGE change in how they both act around each other. The boxer is less aggressive, the older one is more secure and less "nervous" all the time, and there has not been a fight since. We still have to verbally correct the boxer occasionally but its so much better than before. Is it the diffusers (we have two going; one downstairs, one upstairs) or the correcting?? Or both? I don't know but we are going to keep the diffusers going since we are afraid to tinker with what is working! FWIW, these do not do anything to calm them down during fireworks as witnessed during the nearby high school homecoming game the other day! They still go bonkers but we are willing to live with that. I docked it one star as it seems to dry up a little quicker than expected and the fact I'm still nervous with the stories of these things (air diffusers in general) being fire hazards.

Seems to work so far
I did a fair amount of homework before purchasing this product. I read a lot of user/consumer reviews which I feel are the best at giving a realistic picture of if a product works or not. The reviews were mixed and the bottom line from most people was "try it" so I did.I will confess that I did not do the behavior modification along with using the DAP diffuser. However, for me and my dog, the product seemed to work OK. My dog is horribly thunderstorm phobic to the point where she keeps me up all night shaking, salivating, hiding, etc. The phobia has gotten worse over the years. I basically stuck the diffuser into the wall and crossed my fingers. We had several nights in a row with storms and my dog did much, much better. She was still nervous, but not exhibiting it to the point where we were both up all night. I was able to get a full night's sleep. She still shook, but didn't harrass me as much, didn't drool, and didn't hide. So, for me, so far, this seems to be a wonderful product. But, I will echo the sentiments of most other buyers--You just have to try it yourself. There's no way to know which dogs will respond and which won't. $20 seems like a pretty small investment for potentially a lot of piece of mind (and my sanity back ha!).

Amazing! Great for senior dogs!
I am so impressed with this product. I can't believe I have had dogs for most of my life and never heard of this before. We just went through a very stressful move. There was only about 6 weeks notice and things were nuts. My 17 year old dog was a nervous wreck. He was pacing so much that he couldn't even stand up (he is a pacer to begin with, but it was really, really bad). He would get himself so exhausted that he was beside himself. I hired a pet sitter to help me with him one day about a week before the packers and moving van came. She told me that she thought he was at the end of his life and would probably not make the move. Hogwash!!! He is a strong happy dog with a great love of life (as long as food is involved). He was just taking his cues from me because I was totally stressed. Anyway - about the DAP - my vet told me to try this so I ordered and paid for the express shipping. I got the plug in as well as the spray. It took about 36 hours before I really noticed a difference, but boy what a difference! He was calm and relaxed. And because he was calm and I could stop worrying about him, I was much more relaxed ... either that or the DAP worked on me too! I kept the DAP plugged in whatever room he would be in, so the living room during the day and the bedroom at night. I sprayed his bed 2 -3 times per day. By the time the packers came (about 5 days after we started using it) he just was as happy as could be and totally relaxed. I tried to keep him in a room that the packers were not in but he was not happy and wanted to be with me. I let him come into the living room and put him on the sofa. He actually fell asleep with all the packing and tape tearing all around him. He slept like that for 3 hours ... so long that I was actually concerned there was something wrong. He was very irritated when I woke him up and went right back to sleep for another 45 min. Then he got up just as happy and refreshed as ever. This is NOT normal behavior for my dog. And he continued like this for the full 3 days that the packers and movers were there as well as the 13 hour road trip to our new place. I am still using it, as he is still a little unsure of things. Night time seems to be the worst. His eyes aren't so good and he is in a new environment, so it is understandable. Last night he got pretty hyper for a little while. I moved the plug into the bedroom and then I also sprayed his bed. Then I brought him over to his bed and got him all settled in it. He rubbed his face for about 30 seconds where I had sprayed and then was fast asleep and snoring like a big dog. Magic!!! Sorry for the long post but I just can not say enough about this product!!

Warning
I'm sure not everyone has had this experience, otherwise this product would have been recalled. Here's the story and it's not pretty. About 4 or 5 days after I plugged in the diffuser, my dog starting having liquid diarrhea and gas. I couldn't get a full night's sleep for days because I had to take him out every couple hours throughout the night. The vet prescribed some medication to give his colon some relief. Because of the proximity in time between activating the diffuser and my dog getting diarrhea, and there being no dietary reason I could pinpoint, I thought maybe the dog appeasing pheromone had something to do with it. So, I unplugged it for a while. My dog got better, with the help of the medication of course. Then, I waited about 3 weeks and plugged the diffuser back in. I wanted to make absolutely sure it was the diffuser and not just a coincidence. Well, 5 days later he started having liquid diarrhea and gas again. So, I unplugged the diffuser and he recovered soon after. I believe this dog appeasing pheromone is harmful to my dog. I'm really surprised no one else has mentioned this in a review. I can't have the only dog in the world that has this reaction to it. He's a hearty border collie.I'm not necessarily saying don't get this product. I'm just suggesting you should pay close attention to your dog's digestive health in the first week after installing your diffuser. If there's a negative change, get rid of it.

Serious fire hazard
Ordered this product to the UK a couple of weeks ago, it finally arrived yesterday. I plugged it in just before I went to bed about an hour ago this evening, it had only been plugged in for about 10 minutes and my bedroom (where my dog sleeps) was full of smoke and smelt of burning plastic. The diffuser was unbearable to touch as it was so hot and it continued to smoke even after I switched it off from the plug. Do not buy this product online. I am going to my local vets tomorrow to buy a legitimate product, I'd rather pay the extra bit of money than risk burning my house down and injuring my family and pet.
