Purethentic Naturals Policosanol for Cholesterol Health Support, 20 MG, 100 Vcaps, (3 Pack)

My doctor has been hounding me for several years to go on a statin even though my cholesterol numbers are just borderline! I do believe that statins cause more harm than good. My sister-in-law went on it and she quickly developed type 2 diabetes. My ex-husband has been on one for years, and he has terrible dementia and muscle wasting from them at age 68.So I tried red rice yeast and one time was enough to know that it isn't good for the body. Since it depletes Co Q 10, it must be a hardship on the body. I did some more research online and came across Policosanol. I read all the reviews and decided on Purethentic Naturals brand. I bought it along with a few other new supplements several months ago. I tried the other supplements first, since I wanted to see if my body could tolerate each well. Then yesterday I tried the Policosanol. I was fine until about 4 hours later when I started to get a dry patch of mucus in my throat. I had a hard time coughing it up. Then I started to get a burning, funny taste on my tongue and the inside of my nostrils were slightly burning. I looked at my tongue in the mirror, and it was red and raw. I suspected that it might be from the Policosanol, so I immediately went on line to see possible side effects. Most of the sites had side effects that didn't match mine, but a few mentioned the burning in the nose and mouth.Since I am sensitive to drugs and supplements, I am no longer going to take this. Again this wasn't a severe reaction, I don't want to put people off from trying this brand or supplement. The research that I read said that .31% of people in the study had reactions to it- that's less than 1%! I just fall into that category. Lucky me! If it had had no side effects I would still be taking it! Good luck to everyone! I admire people who are willing to buck the medical system and find safer alternatives in their health care!

I started taking this product 8 months ago specifically to lower my cholesterol counts. My doctor suggested statins but to me that was out of the question. Just received my results from my lipid panel and they are amazing. Quick roll up:LDL went from 162 to 136Trig went from 155 to 78HDL went from 72 to 77Chol went from 265 to 229No special dietary changes took place in these 8 months. This is now part of my daily supplemental regime and I will continue to take because it works!!!

My mom is 97 and has been taking policosanol for 6 months. Her total cholesterol was 311. After taking the policosanol and no other life style or dietary changes her next blood test showed acdtop to 252. The doctor knew nothing of policosanol. And her hdl increased 12 points which more than compensated for the 3 point increase in the ldl.

I’ve been using this product for several years as a natural aid to control cholesterol. Easy to take small capsule. I was on Lipitor (a statin) for many years and was having severe side effects. I decided to go on natural vitamins and minerals with the knowledge and assistance of my doctors who were not wholly agreeable but allowed me to try. It took about 3 mos. but I was able to get my lipid panel well within the normal range. I don’t regret it for one minute.

Did not work for me, my cholesterol actually went up, a Dr had a fit, so now it’s back to Crestor.Update 8/18: company read my review and sent a refund...totally unexpected, great customer service. Thank you!

I think it helps. Have been taking this for about a year now and my total cholesterol went from 222 to 209 and LDL went from 145 to 135. But I can’t separate the impact from other factors; I’ve also been trying to have little more vegies and fruits. Also been using air fryer for a while so probably less oily food than past. So maybe my diet pattern also helped.

I ended up having to throw these away as I had an allergic reaction to some component of this supplement. Thankfully I recognized what was happening and was able to take something to offset the reaction. But, I'm allergic to ... a lot of things ... and it doesn't mean that anyone else would have a reaction, too.

The product, which was suggested by doctor, helps in lipid control.The delivery took too long and no tracking info.The local delivery also delayed by two days after receipt in Mysore.
