great feeder protectant.
two of these snugged together and bolted (about 5' above the ground) on the bird feeder pole (a ten foot, 3/4 steel water pipe, driven about 4' into the ground) topped with a funnel shaped baffle hung below a free-moving 6-8 inch length of 4" diameter pvc pipe affixed 2-3" below the feeder floor might keep grounded varmits out of the feeder.

Squirrel-proof so far!
I’ve had this for over a year now and it’s still undefeated by the local squirrels and chipmunks. They try but, to no avail. It’s a bit faded in color. However, it’s held up better than expected as our winters are pretty harsh and summer can be fairly hot also. It’s metal too. I recently bought a cheaper plastic squirrel baffle for my other pole. Guess what critters can easily chew through plastic. So, that’s a great plus for this one. The only warning I would give about this is; if you have a pole that is one solid piece and doesn’t disassemble, it may be hard or impossible to slip the baffle over your hook.. Unfortunately, my other bird feeder pole does not come apart anywhere and the hook portion is too curved to allow it to go over so, I had to buy a new pole. The baffle itself works perfectly and although it is a bit pricey, it’s been well worth it in order to thwart the squirrels.

Finally! A Squirrel Deterent That Works!
We have a feeder on a pole and the squirrels have climbed it despite flat cones and greasing the pole regularly. This baffle took 10 minutes to install and NO squirrels have reached the feeder since. Simple and effective. I wish I had found this product sooner. Perky pet makes good products.

Set it up right and it will do it's job.
As another reviewer River S points out, some squirrels are geniuses. The key is not have any part of the feeder close to the top of this contraption. This is because the squirrels will actually use the edges and the sides of this metal cylinder to jump and grab onto the bottom of the feeder! Happened to me. Can't put this too low to the ground (bottom less than 4.5 or 5 feet) because they squirrels will get a running start, leap like olympic high jumpers and just land on top of it. Don't put your pole too close to a wall because they will turn into Spider Man and literally jump off your roof, overhang, or gutter and turning into Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka high flying onto the feeder. Amazing! It's all trial and error for your particular set up but get it right and it will keep them away from your feeder.

Repels 4 out of 5 Squirrels
I have 5 squirrels that live in my backyard. This baffle was able to flummox 4 of them - hence 4 stars instead of 5. One persistent squirrel somehow managed to bypass the baffle and sit on the bird feeder no matter how I adjusted the location on the pole - up or down. Since there were no trees or anything close enough to jump from, I couldn’t figure out how he kept getting around it. Then I watched him do it and was impressed with his (her?) ingenuity. They climbed the pole and hit the baffle to make it sway so it struck the bird feeder to make IT swing and when it came back towards them, they jumped and grabbed the bottom and climbed up. Figures that I would have the smartest squirrel in the world living in my backyard.

Works well for squirrels, not so much for raccoons
The squirrels in my neighborhood were not able to defeat this baffle. The raccoons took about two weeks to figure it out and then, much to my chagrin, they defeated it nightly. I have a 1" schedule 40 galvanized steel pipe for a pole, and yes this baffle fits 1" galvanized pipe with no problem. I mounted it with the top of the baffle 4-1/2 feet above the ground. I like the metal collar that came with this baffle for mounting it on the pole. For the 1" galvanized pole, I went to the hardware store and bought shorter screws for attaching the metal collar. The screws that come with it are long because they have to work for a range of pole diameters, but for a large diameter pole, shorter screws are better. The metal collar is far superior to the flimsy mounting hardware that came with the similarly shaped, much larger, and much more expensive baffle that I bought to replace this one to, hopefully, keep the raccoons from getting to my feeders. The mounting hardware that came with the larger baffle is not only flimsy, but it's too small to fit on 1" galvanized pipe, so I used this metal collar for the larger baffle. I just installed the larger baffle yesterday, and although it kept the raccoons off last night, I don't know yet if it will keep the raccoons off long term. If it doesn't, I'm going to try mounting both this baffle and the larger baffle, with the larger baffle slightly overlapping the top of this one and see if the raccoons can defeat two baffles in tandem.

A device that certainly lives up to its name!
Just received and installed this baffler yesterday evening, but thus far it is all we have hoped it might be. I had given my wife a shepherd’s crook hanging pole and bird feeder, accessorized with a birdbath, for Mother’s Day, but the squirrels quickly demonstrated their climbing proficiency by adroitly scrambling up the pole, whereupon they not only quickly stole most of the birdseed, but also did some damage by chewing the feeder itself, thereby eliminating some footholds for the birds. However, this morning and afternoon they have made only a handful of abortive forays up the pole and into this device, which has certainly earned its name by baffling them in their desire to make it up as far as the birdfeeder. In fact, I’m not absolutely sure, but I thought I heard one frustrated squirrel muttering to himself as he slid back down the pole, “That s—t is for the birds!” Meanwhile, my new avian friends are sashaying around not only the feeder, but also the ground around the bottom of the pole, as if they own the place. my wife and I could not be more pleased. I will update this review if that does not continue to be the case.

no more squirrels
Bought this to keep the squirrels out of the bird feeders. It works great. The squirrel would climb up the pole get inside the tube and go back down to the ground. The birds can eat in peace.

This works! But doesn’t install easily
After my husband figured out how to attach this to the pole( screws didn’t work without bolts added) and after we spray painted it black and saw how it stops squirrels from climbing the pole we are very happy with it! It does work I saw a squirrel climb up to the baffle and turn around.

Enfin, fini les vols de nourriture
Depuis plusieurs années nous cherchions comment empêcher les écureuils de voler la nourriture des oiseaux. Plusieurs dispositifs ont été essayé, et enfin celui ci fonctionne. Belle trouvaille.
