Gardener Select W1181D2-6UPA 5/8" x50' Rubber Soaker Hose Brass

I purchased one of these hoses and pleased with the quality and performance purchased two more over he following weeks. The hoses themselves are a nice heavy duty and high quality product. The problem is one of shipping. Soaker hoses, these included need low pressure to work, which is why they come with a special type of "washer" called a pressure reducing disk that is in the female end of the hose, think of a rubber quarter with a small hole drilled in the center. This makes sure that as you turn on the water, only a smaller and lower pressure of water passes through the hose, high pressure water can damage or destroy a soaker hose. The first hose had its disc in the end of the hose. The second disk I received did not. Neither did the third hose. Fortunately I was connecting them one to the other in along chain so the first hose with its disc serves all three, but I can not use them apart with out those discs. It is clear that because the discs are just inserted into the end of the hose by hand they can and do fall out somewhere in shipping, either on their way to Amazon, withing the warehouse or somewhere in final shipping to the customers. The discs need to be attached with some form of string or wire retainer such that they will remain with the hose from manufactuer to customer.

I have the big honker thick soaker hoses (wide/thick as a normal rubber hose) and the standard soaker hoses (narrow cheapies). This is intermediate in diameter/circumference between the two. I have a problem area. Severe slope. Right now I have a big boy on the top flatter part then this one attached to that and the skinny attached to this one. I need to play with this arrangement some more (trying to have a more even distribution of water all along the length) but I think I'm getting there.Why only 4 stars? Parts of the hose were kinda flattened.Went back to order the same brand in 75 ft length. 75 foot has a narrower diameter. Bummed.FYI, I put cut-off valves between each soaker hose in case I wanted to restrict water at some point (used my fancy-schmancy washer with those).

works perfectly!! exactly what it should do - we have only had it for 1 summer, so not sure about its longevity! so far, so perfect!!
