Marumi77mm DHG Lens Protect Filter

I typically buy multi-coated UV filters for my lenses as protectors. I do not need the UV blocking properties for my digital cameras, but this seemed to be the best choice for a fully transparent filter/protector. I had tried other "protector filters" before, but they generally are just plain glass and poor quality overall. I had purchased some Marumi UV filters before and they were of excellent quality, so I was excited to see this Marumi protector filter. They are multi-coated to reduce flare and ghosting, and also of excellent quality - good threads front and back and both a knurled top surface AND sides. It is matte black rather than glossy. I have the "super" version of this filter on both of my expensive Panasonic GX zoom lenses and I made this purchase for my Panny 14-140mm and 100-300mm zooms. Any quality lenses I add to my collection will get one of these.

Quality built and nicely packaged in a protective case I bought this for my Canon 24-105 f4L lens. It is not a haze or skylight filter but a multi-coated (to reduce flare/reflections) clear piece of glass to protect your lens elements. It is thin rimmed so vignetting is not a problem and the lens cap still fits snugly on the front of it. Since it is clear and threaded you can stack another filter on top.I own 5 Marumi filters now and am impressed with their quality. Marumi is now my goto filter company (used to be Hoya) because of the price/performance. When compared (by various testing sights) Marumi is always right up top with Hoya, BG, and the other top manufactures and while not cheap they are usually slightly less than the others as well. A great combination.

Just bought a new Canon 17-55 mm lens and they're prone to dust...wanted to protect the glass. Some pro photogs don't like these filters because they are a lesser quality glass from the actual Canon glass used in the lens. Why would you put a $30 glass on a $1,000+ lens is the question I'm often asked. To each his own. I prefer peace of mind to the possible damage, dust, etc. I don't notice a difference since I'm not shooting The Hope Diamond...and if I am, the filter could be removed. But for shooting the kids and products, this works! Thanks ...

Excellent filter, slim, strong and excellent coating. Discovered Marumi by accident in the Greek island of Santorini, became a fan after that for its quality and excellent protection for my lenses.

Made in Japan quality and performance. The super DHG it a step up in quality but for the price this one does the job.
