Easy to use
All aspect of guitar playing are explained in easy to understand instructions. This is a great book to learn from scratch or to further your playing technique and sometimes just to brush up on things you may have already learned but not practiced for a while! Highly recommended.

Great Book to Learn, Go Spiral
I really like this book. Very straightforward approach to the guitar. I would recommend springing for the spiral-bound copy.

Essential Book, but get the one with audio files.
Must have book for beginners to learn how to read sheet music. Beware, though, that this version does not have the accompanying audio files which makes things less useful since you can’t see how something is played, particularly for the more obscure tunes. Overall, would buy again if I lost it, it I’d get the one that has the audio files.

All in one space saver
Glad to finally not have to go back and forth between books. Nice to have them all at my fingertips instead of hunting for them. Saves space on my shelves as well.

Standard guitar book I guess.
It’s quite underwhelming as a reader to be honest. But from teacher’s point of view, it’s pretty well written after all. It’s easy to keep track of students reading skills.

Best Guitar book
I teach guitar lessons, I've purchased this book multiple times as I tend to destroy them with the binding comb breaking and pages falling out and getting lost. Nothing against the quality of the book, I'm just really hard on them. This is the only guitar book I teach from. I've tried others, but find that the Hal Leonard series tends to be the best especially for younger learners. The same goes for their piano books.

The legend
I mean, what can we say? Hal Leonard's Guitar Method is legendary for a reason -- between this and Mel Bay, you can't go wrong as an introduction to the instrument. This edition has the first three complete levels included, which a dedicated student should be able to power through with no problem at all. Yes, the song selections are a little dated and have that kind of "old guy trying to be cool" vibe to them, but who cares? It's about note reading, common patterns, and getting used to the instrument, and in my opinion (with 30+ years of teaching) this is the way to go.Excellent value getting all three grades in one book too! And adding TAB reading is a valuable asset for future players as well.

A Great Source for Beginners to Develop Guitar-Playing Skills in a Systematic Way
This is quite an old book now, but has stood the test of time, mainly because it is structured in a manner that does not swamp the beginner with too much detail all at once, but progressively introduces new material alongside the consolidation of what has already been studied.Consequently, I suspect that many experienced guitarists, such as myself, have recommended it to others, over several generations, thus making it a worthy means of evolving guitar-playing skills, which still retains great credibility today.
