Sardegna is such a terrific place. I was happy to have this guide to help me plan my five weeks there. I found Olbia well worth seeing, and a great gateway to hill towns nearby. It has the most terrific museum, and very good, free audio guides.

Full of very useful informations
Well parted in geographical chapters, this book is surely worth the money to buy it. The only thing that disappoints me, as I like hiking and discovering inner mountain regions of an island, is the pages long description of sand beaches, rock beaches etc. from northeast to south and back to northwest... I was at the point of getting a "beachphobia" ! Anyway the still updated informations in this book are more than useful and easy to find on a Kindle reader.

Perfect Guide to 'Real Sardinia'
Having followed Lonely Planet's advice throughout our recent trip to Sardinia, my boyfriend & I couldn't be happier. We weren't looking to flash our cash or impress the fashionistas along the Costa Smeralda, so we needed a guide that had a solid base in the rest of Sardinia - or what Sardo's refer to as the 'Real Sardinia'. Recommendations on where to stay in beach towns, mountain villages, & Cagliari were all fantastic & I can honestly say that at no point did I feel lost or led astray by this guide.

Basic
Lonely Planet travel guides are pretty basic. This one is no different. Worth having if you need a reference while on the road but most of the best things we did and the information we needed were not really covered in this book. Navigation clunky. Maps need improving. Limited info of La Madalena. No mention of a day trip to Bonifacio in Corsica from Santa Teresa di gallura one of the highlights of our trip.

Great for "hookers"
I purchased this for my husband as he is presently circumnavigating the coast of Sardinia. He wanted a guidebook that would entail more nature yet still maintain some cultural insight. He states it is fulfilling his expectations while on anchorage and sailing.

really disappointing
OK so this review relates the the kindle version only. Basically, I thought this was a waste of money. I was sitting in sardinia trying to work out my next steps and I decided to download the kindle travel guide to help me out. But look out: you CANNOT perform any word searches on this edition, so it was incredibly frustrating to find anything meaningful. Unlike novels etc, travel books are meant to be used as references so having an index of search terms is an absolute MUST. Unfortunately, every time I searched for a term, eg. 'camping' or 'Cala Gonone' it came up with 'title not indexed' or something similar.Utterly useless for someone on the move and in need of quick info. I would not recommend at all! Please Lonely Planet sort this out QUICK!!!!!

Comprehensive Sardinia guide by Lonely Planet
I originally borrowed this guide from my local library and found it very helpful in planning a 2-week driving holiday to Sardinia.Finding it online in electronic form meant I could download it onto my iPad which I always take on my travels. The format of LP guides is familiar and accessible and it is very useful to have the information on hand when on the ground.

Best guide Available for sardinia
Sardinia is a magical place with a surprising amount of things to see and do besides sitting on a beach all of which we saw were excellent. The island cuisine is very good and not the usual Italian fare. Really quite unique. There is a good range of accommodation at far prices. We had a wonderful holiday made so by this guide. We never had a bum steer using it. Thoroughly recommended.
