Life of Jesus Christ and Biblical Revelations (4 Volumes)

Pleased to Buy it as a Set
I like reading Anne Catherine Emmerich and was very pleased to be able to purchase this as a set and not individual singles ... although I have separately purchased singly her book: "The Dolorous Passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ" which is one of the books Mel Gibson used in his movie.

These are an absolute must read !!
Whether you are a Christian, Biblical scholar, historian, "truth" seeker, or for any reason have an interest in the life and times of Jesus, these books are, in my opinion, an absolute essential read !They are the recorded visions ( 4 Volumes ) of Anne Catherine Emmerich (1774-1824). It is not "channeled" information, or someone's "opinions", but rather the recorded revelations or "visions" as it were, of Catherine as she was a witness of the events. She does not give "interpretations" and often said herself that she did not always understand what she was seeing, but simply conveys the events and details as she saw them. She was simply a witness of the events as they happened. And if there are those who might be concerned about "Church authority", it is explained in the Publisher's preface regarding these writings, that "they have been judged by ecclesiastical authority to be free of error in matters of faith and morals." And interestingly, many of the details she gives which were previously unknow during her time, through the Bible or any other source, have since been verified through modern archeology. The astounding detail that is given regarding locations, customs, clothing, food and so forth have in themselves served to be a means for much verification of the validity of these amazing writings...details that Catherine herself could have never known. And likely more will be proven to be true over time. These details can, themselves, make these books at times somewhat laborious to read, due to the massive amount of detailed information. But fortunately the books are fairly well indexed and can be used for reference, or sections read according to interest in a particular event or time. But they are definitely well worth reading completely through in every detail for those interested. These books fill in gaps of "missing" information of the Bible and clarify many, many mysteries that have been argued for Centuries; giving the "rest of the story".Each volume contains a brief biography about the "visionary" who witnessed these events and how these books came to be, although there are two additional large volumes that have been written about her life for those interested in delving more deeply into who she was (an absolutely fascinating subject all of it's own): "The Life and Revelations of Anne Catherine Emmerich" by Carl E.Schmoger, also published by TAN.I have been aware of these amazing 4 volumes for years, and go back to them again and again to research various questions and issues regarding Bible passages or general issues in question. The first volume actually begins with Creation, and the books progress through events after the death of Christ, the ascension, death of Mary and so on. And because of the details given, it conveys also details about the lives of those around Christ, people heretofore unknown, or confused due to name similarities and such. And there are too many amazing "hidden" details to mention here; things about Joseph and Mary, Mary's conception and the birth of Christ, details about the flight into Egypt and places they went, even mention of a "secret" trip Christ took later in life to the East and even to the location where St.Thomas later dies, which would put him in India ! The information given does not in any way take away from or contradict anything in the Bible...it will only increase your knowledge and understanding, filling in gaps and giving fuller and more complete information. It has been said that in order to address all that was done during the life of Christ, it would take all the books in the world. I would say that these 4 volumes certainly make a major contribution.!ADDED NOTE: The price at which Amazon is currently selling these books is amazing. I grabbed another set for myself when I saw that as over the years they have gone up in value, and periodically gone out of print (I think perhaps the independent publisher has struggled through the years) So I would encourage anyone interested, to grab them now while they are available. (No, I don't work for the publisher...:) )Hope this review might be helpful to someone.

A very touching account of Jesus day to day life
I am always perplexed by how some people limit God to their small and weak imagination.Just because something is not mentioned in the Bible, they simply think that God cannot possibly do that! The Bible says at several places for example that Jesus performed many cures. The details are not given.I have always wanted to know about the details. What did Jesus actually speak to flock who came to Him,what did He eat, when and how did He sleep, what kind of traveling He performed, what was the nature of His miracles, what were the history of thos people who got cured, how was Mother Mary's daily life like, this and another million questions.I wanted to be like a person who lived in His time on earth, seeing and experiencing everything that happened.I hade never thought I could get answers to them in this life, until I read this book.I had first read the Passion alone, then read Life of the Blessed Virgin Mary, then bought this 4 volume set.I cannot explain the joy and sorrow and all other emotions when I read them.It is just like as if you were time traveling, right from the creation of Adam and Eve,to Abrahams and Noahs Times,to Jesus ministry and passion, all passing like a movie in front of you.Every minute detail ,including the dress details, the surroundings ,the settings to the state of that person's soul at the time, the scenario not only explianed in terms the present world, but also from eternity,I can only say marvelous and absolutely mystifying. All the while reading this,I can only be in awe thinking about a God so loving that He would give a beloved daughter of His,these kind of visions from the beginning of times to the end,I would say that God is most marvelous, magnificent person on earth. To think that God cannot possibly do this, like I said ,is because we just cannot believe God cannot be limited. When I read many accounts, like for examle, how Mother Mary deals with cruel people who mock her while she asks for a stay during her pregnancy travel, only makes me think, thats the only way she would have dealt with them, silently asking God for forgiveness for their ignorance, not cursing them or being frustrated. Each time I read about Mary,I say to myself, how else would she react,if not in this way.Particularly touching was an account where Jesus cures and old woman who was paralyed, kneeling over her bedside and gently holding her hand, another one where a man comes to know some bitter truth about his wife,he breaks down, and Jesus ,His Creator, not able to withstand the heartbreaking cry of this man, turns away to the other side, and prays silently for Him,just like any loving father would do on account of his son being tormented, and that scene where Jesus sees Judas for the first time.He looks painfully at Judas,Anne says, not because Jesus knows this is His betrayer, but for sorrow for that soul being lost to Him,and Jesus tells Judas,to make a good decion regarding his soul....all these very touching that tears welled up while reading them. Its not like a novel you can just read on.I could read only a few chapters at a time, puasing, meditating and reflecting on what I read, becuase the whole thing is very intensive, very heavy and very very loving.I felt the presence of God in each incident, and this collection to me is nothing but pure treasure. And what were the effects?Well I grew closer to God,appreciated the Lord's Passion more, now that I know every nitty gritty details of His horrible death, and it changed my whole perspective towards God in a more positive way.I would read it again and again, especially when I feel down because I feel the presence of my God each time I read it.Judge by the fruits.A very passionate account of Jesus life.

A fleshing out of the Life of Christ
It is difficult to write a proper review of the work of Blessed Anne Emmerich. Her mysticism and the revelations of what, revealed by her, is complete in 'fleshing out' the life of Jesus Christ and His works while here on earth. The Bible is sacrosanct. However, this work illuminates the Bible and the life of Christ. It is almost as if the New Testament is a synopsis of the life of Christ, the apostles and disciples. Anne Emmerich provides us with the full story in many instances bringing the New Testament into a far more complete understanding through her mystical revelations.Anne Emmerich, nun, mystic and pronounced Blessed by the church, expounds with such luminescence and detail that is becomes a gift for the reader. The detail is amazing and the effects of the revelations are profoundly edifying for the Christian reader. From Adam and Eve through the livesof Jesus, Mary, Joseph and many saints are here brought into complete light and understanding. The humanity of Christ, His many miracles that were never known and the amazing detail from illuminating much of the Bible makes this work a true gift for the reader. I found it profound, deeply moving and a true answer to much of what we read of Christ in the Bible: it is a fleshing out of the life of Christ and many of the saints.

Must Read!
The first few pages are difficult to get through, but necessary info is shared here. Stick with it, it gets very interesting and enlightening as the books progress. I recommend this as a sure means to learn more details about the life of Jesus and to fill one's heart with true love for God, rather than just "belief" in God.
