I'll be honest — I wasn't sure what to expect from a standalone numpad. How much could there really be to it? Turns out, quite a lot.The BOYI TD31Pro is one of those purchases that ends up being way more useful than you anticipated. It's compact, it's slick-looking with the black transparent finish, and it's packed with features that you'd normally expect from a full-sized keyboard at a much higher price point.The connectivity options alone make this thing stand out. You get Bluetooth 5.0, 2.4GHz wireless, and Type-C wired — so whether you're jumping between a Mac and a Windows machine or just don't want cables cluttering your desk, you're covered. Switching between devices is painless, which matters more than people realize until they've dealt with a numpad that fights you every time you try to reconnect it.What really impressed me, though, is how many different modes this thing supports. I expected a numpad to do numpad things. Instead, I found myself actually exploring the different configurations — macro setups, RGB lighting modes, the built-in screen that gives you useful at-a-glance info, and the knob that you can map to volume, scrolling, or whatever else makes sense for your workflow. It's the kind of depth that keeps the device feeling fresh even after you've been using it for a while. And despite all that depth, it's genuinely easy to use. The hot-swap support means you can swap out switches without any soldering if you want a different feel, and the gasket mount keeps the typing experience soft and satisfying rather than clanky and harsh on a hard desk surface. Setup is straightforward — no wrestling with drivers or confusing software. For anyone working with numbers regularly, doing data entry, or just wanting a programmable macro pad that moonlights as a numpad, this is a really solid pick. It punches well above its size. It is compatible with Windows 11 and it is very light weight.

OUTSTANDING BUILD QUALITY: This numpad is leagues ahead of others I've used. It feels premium in every way; the materials are solid, the keys have a satisfying feel, and nothing about it comes across as cheap. And trust me, I've bought my fair share of PC peripherals—this one stands out as truly top-tier. EFFORTLESS CONNECTIVITY: Connecting it to both Bluetooth and wired modes was incredibly easy. Simply press the function key with the corresponding number (e.g., FN + 4 for Wi-Fi), and it pairs instantly—no repeated confirmations required. RGB CUSTOMIZATION AND DISPLAY: The RGB lighting options are expansive and fully adjustable. You can increase or decrease brightness without the need for external software, straight from the numpad's OLED screen. You can even turn the lights completely off if you prefer a more minimalist look—something that's surprisingly rare in the market from non-popular brand names. PREMIUM PACKAGING: Even the packaging is impressive. Whoever designed and approved the quality components and presentation of this numpad truly understood what premium should feel like. I like extra keycaps, cap puller even a few extra switches came with this. Yes it's hot swap, so you can can customize this willy-nilly as I did lol Honestly, this product sets the bar high—I almost feel bad for any numpad I review after this. It's just that good. CONS: The only thing I can ding this on, is a minor one. The option to replace the turn nob, although it's good, I'd like a metallic silver/gold finish (might be able to do it, but I'm afraid I might make things worse...it doesn't come off easily, and I don't want to press my luck. This can be a good or bad thing as in a previous numpad I owned, it came off tooo easy and the company charged me 20 plus dollars for a small turn nob. FINAL THOUGHTS: Highly recommended for anyone who values quality, ease of use, and customization. (Note:in the picture above, I used custom keycaps. This unit has a keypuller that helped the process)

I do work where there's just no substitute for a real numpad, but I'm experimenting with some minimalist ergo keyboards, so I've been looking for something like this. Unfortunately what I'm looking for isn't quite what I'm looking for. The pad itself is fine enough. It comes with some light linear switches that are fine. They're not to my taste but it's hotswappable and decently painless to do so. It's fine over a wired connection and uses USB-C like everything does now. The problems, however: It uses a proprietary tool for hardware remapping, and it's a windows-only program rather than an open source tool like Via or ZMK Studio or even a proprietary web-usb app. So if you're on linux you have to do VM trickery or use another machine to do the remapping. But, why would you need to remap a numpad? Well, because they put the (necessary) Fn key on the editing block. I forget offhand which exact key but I think it was delete? It's not a good choice. Additionally, the rotary encoder is not customizable. It has two hardcoded modes. One to navigate a system of internal menus, and the other to send volume up/down and volume mute when clicked. And the way you switch between these two, or access the shortcuts on other keys to do bluetooth/wireless/wired channel selection and pairing requires the use of the Fn key. Since you *must* sacrifice a key for Fn, I used scroll lock. It's got full RGB lighting which I don't really care for. It is partially disablable but not completely so. The little colored bar between the arrow keys and the six-block is always on and shifts hue continuously over about a 6-second cycle. the OLED screen is also always on. Perhaps as a consequence of this, the battery life is rather poor. Most wire!less keyboards I've used have a battery life measured in weeks. This lasts a couple days. This comes despite it being very aggressive about sleeping. In bluetooth mode it seems to sleep after 5-10min of inactivity, and requires several seconds for it to wake up and reconnect so you inevitable drop some keypresses in that process.
