Entertaining, Fun, and You Can't Help But Smile While You Play
The New Illustrated Treasury of Disney Songs is a must-have for any person with a passion for Disney music. Being a pianist, I have thoroughly enjoyed playing from this songbook, and I highly recommend it. Even after owning this particular book for a couple years, I still continue to enjoy playing from it. The book includes a wide variety of Disney music. Featuring 68 songs, it ranges from the classics such as “Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah” and “It’s a Small World,” to the more recent songs found in “High School Musical.” In addition to music for the pianist, it includes music for the guitarist as well as for the vocalist. In the beginning of the book, it also features a very interesting history of Disney music. The book appeals to wide range of people, from the novice musician to the expert pianist. Some songs can easily be learned by a beginner, while more experienced musicians can still be entertained with the more difficult songs. Admittedly that does present a dilemma, where personally I wish some songs would be harder while other songs would be easier. For example, I would’ve liked if “If I Was a Rich Man” from Monsters Inc. was easier, while I wish “Be Our Guest” was a little more challenging. Also, some songs seem to be a shortened version of the actual song. For example, “A Whole New World” is much shorter in this book compared to the same song found in a different book. Still, it’s a great buy and definitely worth the money. Since the book is very versatile, it is the perfect songbook for any Disney aficionado with a desire to learn the famous Disney songs.

Good Collection
When I was around 10 years old, I had a Disney songbook for piano. I managed to hang onto it until I was in my thirties. I teach piano, and I often used it for my students. However, it finally started falling apart despite all the tape holding it together. Recently, I began looking for a similar Disney song collection. I was happy to find this one. It has all the same Disney songs from my old book like "Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf" and "Give a Little Whistle" along with many from the newer Disney movies like Beauty and the Beast, Mulan, and Tarzan. I'd say the piano difficulty level is aimed at an intermediate student and would be a bit too difficult for a beginner pianist. Truly, the only reason it didn't get 5 stars from me is the binding. My old book that lasted 25 years was hardcover and laid flat when you opened it. This paperback, tightly bound version does not stay open, in fact, it is hard to get open completely. I'm forced to make copies of the songs so that they will stay on the piano when playing. Other than that, I'm enjoying this Disney song collection so much like the one from my childhood.

Put yourself in a good mood
These are accurate transcriptions of many Disney favorites. A child playing diligently for a few years could tackle some of these songs. But don't think you are getting the 1998 publication. This one takes out some like "I wanna be like you", "Higitus Figitus", in order to put in more current songs from Brother Bear, Atlantis, and Treasure Planet. At last notice this book was priced at $29.95 - pretty steep in my opinion, but the publisher has cause for this list price; it's well bound and the pages are glossy and of good quality. So far my favorites to play are "Where the dream takes you" from Atlantis, "Go the Distance" from Hercules, and "Colors of the Wind" Pocahontas. But you can't beat the old classics from Snow White, Pinocchio, and Cinderella.

Great to have, but missing some favorites
This book was the best I could find to give me music and lyrics for a wide variety of songs that my 2 yr old knows now, as well as may become familiar with in the future. But there are two flaws: It is missing some favorite songs, and not all the verses and intro riffs are shown with the music, so you'll have to improvise if you have a drama star in your home. The missing favorites especially seem to be from the older movies I grew up with, such as 'Never smile at a Crocodile". I presume these have been dropped over the years to make room for newer Disney tunes, but frankly, I don't have much use for the theme to "Brother Bear" for example. Also, not all the verses and are shown with the actual sheet music. Instead, the complete lyric is shown after the song, with the music published only for the excerpt. This is annoying if you need to sing the complete song with your child.

Very Beautiful Book
I already had the original New Illustrated Treasury Of Disney, a blue hardcover. This new edition is equal to the original and I would suggest getting both books if you can. The older one has some great songs that the new one left out. This new edition is printed on high quality paper, and each song has a nice full color picture from the song's movie on the top corner of page. Wonderful selection includes songs from the newer movies, so this book brings me up to date. I am a piano teacher, and will be teaching this book to every student able to play the arrangements. Intermediate level. I took my book (shipped quickly by Amazon) to a copier to have a spiral binding installed to allow book to lay flat. Cheerful, great music.

AMAZING!!
I'm one of the biggest Disney fans you will every meet. I bought this book because of how passionate I am about Disney and I definitely recommend it. The piano is for someone who has been playing for a long time and knows how to transpose the music according to how the singer may sing it. Otherwise a very fun book with interesting facts about Disney and loads of songs to choose from!

Very beautiful book. Has a good song selection that covers different time periods of disney. Thought it was a little easy depending on what level you prefer to play but still fun to play and song along....so long you know the lyrics because only some are printed with the music then you have to read the rest on a separate page.

fun To learn
When I first opened this I was a bit put off by the blurb and illustrations. But once you get past that it is brilliant! A few pieces are tricky but most of them are just challenging enough to be fun for a grade 4-5 standard pianist. It would be better if it were spiral bound but it isn’t a deal breaker. A great buy.
