The best book ever!
If I had gotten this book with my first preganacy my delivery would had been wonderful as my second pregnancy and delivery was. This book focuses on YOU the mother, it gives you the knowlege and power to have a beautiful preganacy I read them ALL and only this book made me feel strong and in power to defend my pregnancy from doctors that some times bully you into things that you do not want or you do not need. For people that are not use to holistic and natural medicine could be a little difficult to adapt or difficult to find the herbs and homeopathic remedies but if you really want to try this option search on line for the remedies and teas, you will find them and open your mind to a new experience.

Great book for healthy pregnancy & delivery
Amazing book for all mothers-to-be who believe that pregnancy & childbirth can be beautiful, healthy experiences & not stories from hell. Use this book as your guide & a mindset & don't obsess over not being able to follow every single step. Adopt things that make sense for you & your lifestyle & you will still enjoy the benefits. Thanks to this book I believed that I can have a beautiful pregnancy & amazing, medication & intervention free delivery & I did.

Amazing book!
Love this book. So many great tips and I love the month to month program that she provided. The book includes hypnosis and visualizations to use. In reality the book includes everything you need to prepare for a gentle birth. Highly, highly recommend it!

Some good parts but...
A friend lent me this book and while there are some very useful things such as massage techniques, mind excercises, and yoga routines I found most of it to be not very helpful. The focus on diet is really just common sense (no refined sugars, wheat etc), but also often unnecessarily restrictive (i.e. no bananas or grapes!!). She also focuses too heavily on many many herbal remedies that are complicated and hard to source. I also assume Dr Mothi has no children of her own because she often lacks empathy for pregnant women and shuns comments like 'I was so sick, all I could stomach was toast' (welcome to the realities of morning sickness). The whole time I was reading the book I could not shake the feeling that it would all be my fault if I had a big baby, my labour went over 9 hours, or I needed medical interventions while Dr Motha would be tsk tsking in my brain. Phrases like 'conjested' and 'bloated' vaginas are really no better than the medical establishment using things such as 'failure to progress' in laying the blame of complicated childbirths on the mother. If you are hoping for a natural childbirth I recommend other books such as 'Natural Childbirth the Bradley Way'. While it is still overtly political about medicalized births (I don't believe women should not be made to feel guilty for things not going to plan) this book is much more empowering in terms of the language used. It begins with the premise that we are capable of delivering babies naturally (even if it takes 24hours) and the book provides the mental and physical tools to help do this.

If you’re not a fan of New Age Beliefs, skip this.
I’m not a fan of Reiki or Yoga or self hypnosis and this book talks frequently about that. I didn’t realize that was the basis of the book until I purchased it.

Too many rules!
If you want to use this book you need to read it before you actually get pregnant. I am at the end of my second trimester and all of the rules in this book are overwhelming. I recommend the Husband-coached childbirth: The Bradley Method. I spoke with my midwife about this book, the gentle birth method, she pretty much told me to get rid of it. The only things I liked in the book were the massage methods and yoga positions. So, I give it one star for each of those things.

Etat tout juste correct
Tout à fait le produit que j'attendais, mais l'état du livre n'est pas vraiment satisfaisant... Pages cornées, idem pour la couverture... Heureusement aucune annotation. Ça passe...

A must read book
I’ve read this book many times before my daughter’s birth.Ive followed the instructions as per my level best (not 100%). It really helped me a lot to be calm and strong during the delivery. It was a normal delivery within 6 hours.

A WONDERFUL BOOK
I came across this book when I was 8 weeks pregnant with my second child. I was not happy with how things went the first time around and even though I had a fairly pleasant pregnancy (even though I put on a massive 26kg!) my labor was long, painful and with the help of the epidural which I decided to go for in the end resulting in slight complications. I did not want that the second time around, so when I found out I was pregnant I started researching for alternative ways to help me. This book was a god sent. A very good read with so much good advise which I did not fallow as a bible but more as a guidance. I did my best regarding the diet advice (about 70% of the time). Couldn't afford to take all the alternative sessions of reflexology, supplements and so on. Only had one massage during my pregnancy during my 2nd trimester. However I did exercise on a very regular basis (mainly pregnancy exercise DvDs and Pilates for pregnancy) which I really think made a huge difference. While other mothers were feeling big, uncomfortable and awkward (I had two THREE other friends who were pregnant with me at the same time!:)I was feeling able to run around my 2 year until the end and people kept mentioning to me how well I looked and how they wished they looked like me if they were pregnant :) I only put on 12kg compared to 26kg this time as well!A very important part was also the fact that I listened to the Hypnosis Cd in preparation for the birth religiously every night for the whole duration of the last trimester. I really believe that this is what prepared my mind for the labor. I was much more prepared this time thanks to that. Labor is painful -there is no running away from that. But you can definitively prepare your body and mind for this amazing experience. I ended up having a water birth with no pain relief but a couple of tablets of paracetamols which I took at home! Yes there was pain, yes there were moments I did not know if I can do it, but thanks to the CD I was constantly reminding myself that I CAN DO THIS and my body is capable of this. I manage to stay calmed and focused and the midwife kept mentioning to me how impressed she was by that. I was dilating quickly and had a healthy and strong baby girl :)I would reccomend this book to anyone who is pregnant!
