It holds the light up. Nothing more to say about it. It's the same as the one that came with the light.

I bought (4) mounts to switch the light unit between helmets. The unit broke off during use at highway speeds! Now the unit is no longer available. UPDATE. The company responded. They are having supply chain issues. They were VERY understanding. They gave me a 100% refund!

Amazon made me revise my review but nothing changed. Let’s see if I can get my point across without tipping off their AI. The mount did not work as advertised. I attempted to put it in the helmet after having ordered it 6 months earlier but access to the mount has been a challenge. I do have an original MT light and like it but ordering a second mount has proven a challenge.

Light fell off first time I used it!
DON’T BUY! COST ME $100! - this has the brand name, but I don’t know if it’s a fraudulent copy or not. The light fell off the first time I used it. Had to buy a new light. Don’t buy this - big mistake!
