Well Worth the Price
I broke down and bought this once I cast my third and largest counter top (25.5" x 112"). I had used hand polishing blocks on the other two, so I have a huge appreciation for the time and effort savings of this tool. Very wet and messy, so prepare well for that, but extremely effective. I was able to use the valve on the top to tweak the flow to a slow trickle and match speed (I'd suggest starting at the lowest setting for 50-800 grit and slightly increasing for 1500-3000). The speed control is a yellow dial on the back end of the tool (near the chord). The instructions are very lacking, so it pays to look it over and make sure to attach things right. Assuming it lasts the distance, I'm hoping me and my friends and family have many more concrete countertops to polish! One note for operation beside start slow (since it came out of the box on the highest setting), I would have taken more time with the 100 and 200 grits if I would have been able to better see the progress (hard to see when wet). It took a long time to do the first pass with 50 grit, but that was more obvious to tell the progress. After the first pass(es) with 50 grit and you're ready to use 100, I would suggest not simply making sure you hit all the surface, but really go over it several times before moving onto the next grit. It seemed to take less time with each higher grit.

Secco Wet Polisher -- Decent Tool, Decent Results
I just received the tool Saturday, and spent the best part of the evening polishing a really nasty concrete floor (painted-over oil and coal dust). The other reviews were good and worth reading -- the model I got seemed to have a relatively OK water feed arrangement, seems solid enough. (Swap the supplied tubing with your own -- a good $3 investment.) I was too lazy to worry about a long garden hose snaking through the basement, so I put a hose fitting (spare quick coupling) on a bucket and placed that on a step stool -- you limit the pressure this way, and the valve suddenly becomes much more nuanced and useable. Too little water, and you seem to skim on top of a paste you create, too much and you have a mess -- the right amount keeps the pad in contact with the surface and washes away the material so you see what progress you are making. Agree with other reviews on the manual -- there is none, but you should be able to figure out the couple bits. Do pay attention to the splash guard, mine stayed on just fine with the supplied big hose clamp (someone else got his fingers slapped by it...) I do wish they had an arbor lock on the unit -- removing the polishing pad holder or a metal grinder cup is tough, since everything rotates freely. The pads (I never made it beyond 50-grit) were effective, but keep in mind the pads do seem to be for polishing, not aggressive material removal. That said, the 50-grit did a good job of paint removal, leveling of high spots, and rough polishing. There was no visible wear after 2 hours of use. I did go out to Home Depot to get a Ridgid 4" diamond cup ($39.95 -- new product, one in stock, luckily) just before the store closed, and used that for another hour. The polisher does not have quite enough power to run this aggressively, but with a light touch, you can grind away a satisfactory amount of material and conceivably polish the floor in an 8x10' basement room in a solid day or over the weekend. Note the front handle swivels up so you can get right up to an edge -- makes a nice edge to a basement floor. The machine will bog down with aggressive grit and even medium pressure, but again, it appears designed for polishing duty which should be less demanding. (Get a serious 2,500W or so angle grinder to do aggressive leveling...) I did not get shocked, nor did the GF protector trip -- I think if you keep your workspace reasonable, i.e. remove accumulated water, use rubber gloves, stand in the dry area, etc., and limit the amount of water shooting out of the tool, you should be just fine. Again, I did not try to create the opportunity to have to test the GF protector. In sum, I'd concur the Secco is a pretty good choice for DIY projects -- use it gently, within its design limits, and it seems like it will work with you on a number of projects or more. It's at a great price point (compare output in finished countertops or floors with what you would have to pay a contractor...), so I must say I'm quite happy with my choice. Get the aggressive metal/diamond grit cup if you do want to level the concrete vs. polish only -- for the $40 (also on Amazon), you will remove much more material. BTW, it is variable speed, and at low speed, power is also lower (does not compensate with more juice as the tool bogs down, like models with more expensive electronic controls). I indicated 4 stars because power could be a bit stronger for my aggressive use, lack of arbor lock and manual, and build quality not quite 100% like the big brands.

Perfect for countertops...
I'm not one to write a review on everything I buy, but couldn't resist with this one. I read some of the 1-star reviews and almost passed on this polisher. So this review is more of a response to their "negatives".First- the ARE instructions for assembly. There is a picture, and there are written step-by-step instructions in the manual. That being said, if you are at a loss and can't figure out how to install the handle (2-allen bolts), guard (1 hose clamp), and the water valve (one nut), you probably shouldn't be around power tools without additional supervision.Second- there is a washer included in the kit for a reason. If you're complaining about your bit/attachment being "stuck", and you're stripping out the supplied wrench because you have to wrench on it that hard, you probably didn't use it. Every attachment I have removed has come off very easily with the wrench and a slight twist of the attachment with my hand.Lastly- the guard. Be sure to slide the guard over the spindle (don't attach yet), secure your attachment with the wrench, then slide the guard up into position and secure it. Simply do the opposite to remove.Positives--- The polisher operates flawlessly and and always seems to run nice and cool even under heavier loads. It's comfortable to handle and well balanced. I had very little hand/arm fatigue even after using it for a few hours on end. The polishing pads are of high quality and do a fantastic job. The 50 grit is great for bulk removal of high spots, and the assortment of finer grits do a great job of getting your surface to a super smooth finish. The GFCI on the power cord functions as it should and is easy to reset if needed. It also has a visual indicator to show you the status (tripped/reset). They also include a spare set of motor brushes for future replacement... that's really a nice bonus!Negatives--- The on/off switch feels a little cheap and awkward. So far it's been fine, but something a little more sturdy would be great. The ad mentions a 10,000 grit pad, which nobody seems to get in their kit, including me.Overall- this is a great polisher that really performs. If I were polishing concrete/stone every day, I'd might spend the $300+ for the Makita or something along those lines, but the quality of this polisher definitely exceeded my expectations. This tool is a value in my book. Don't hesitate on choosing this polisher for your next job.

Slight water volume control problems
I like this tool except that to control how much water is coming out is difficult to get the rate I’d like. Also, the length of the hose is a bit short as you would be attaching it to a garden hose or tap. It means dragging a heavy garden hose around your piece. I had to replace the hose which is hard to find for some reason

Good starter set
I used it on ceramic, natural stone and some man made quartz. Worked quite well. The weak points were the switch is finicky and the pads are definitely inferior to name brand ones I've used since.
