Automatic Watch for Men 5-7S Collection

I've only had this watch for less than a week, but I'm already sold on the classic design and quality I've expected in the other 3 Seikos I've owned over the past 45 years. This time, I've opted for the Seiko 5 model which runs on a mechanical movement, rather than risk battery problems like my last watch 10 years ago. I know it's "water RESISTANT " meaning I can't get it very wet, much less submerge it, but I'm not one for being careless with treating a great time piece around water!

Really nice watch. It keeps time well, I might have to do a minor adjustment every couple weeks depending on frequency of wear. It keeps time better if you wear it every day, as you might suspect. However, not wearing it one day shouldn't throw off the time much if at all, but two days pushes the envelope. The blue background is perfect - deep, rich and understated, with class. The wrist band is good but not great.... but great is hard to find (and usually heavier, in my experience). It doesn't have a lot of heft - I tend to be active, so I like that it's light, not too huge, and isn't too snug. I have very large wrists, and prefer a slightly looser fit, so others might have to take out a link or two.

I'm a little disappointed you cannot have wind this but apparently the Seiko swirl is a thing. A few jiggles in the hand and it whirs to life again. Over the day I find it keeps time to the second according to my computer. Looks great on my wrist as I prefer smaller watches in general but it just looks great to me. The lume lasts up to 30 minutes when exposed to sunlight for a while and it's super easy to tell time. Mine didn't come with a manual but seeing the day and date is a breeze regardless. The royal blue coloration looks black or very dark unless in a very bright light. I cannot hear it ticking on my nightstand, so if you're sensitive to sounds in a quiet room this watch won't bother you. Definitely a dressier watch, but whatever. Wear pretty stuff wherever.

Great quality, looks high end, and my son loved this gift. He took it the our local jewelry to take some of the links out but that was not a problem at all.

Have to wear this beautiful watch all day every day, since it only lasts 12 hours or so if not worn. but even if worn every day, it is not really reliable: some seemingly random times I will all of a sudden notice that it has lost an hour ... today, after a long walk I found that it was two hours behind and the second hand wasn't moving (despite the fact that I had just come back from that walk, so it should have been well-wound). also, about 6 months ago I sent a message to the seller basically asking to return it (it was supposed to have a one year warranty). but I never heard back from the seller. today, 13 months after purchase, i see no option in my account to seek a return. again, beautiful watch but not much use.

I've worn this watch for about a week now. Very well made. While the links on the band are sheet metal formed, I've experienced no deformation or softness in the metal. I love the fact that if I take care of it, I won't ever have to replace a battery. Update 10/2014. It's still well made, but due to it's all mechanical construction, I have to be more careful with it then a lower end watch. Keep track of how much time it gains or loses over the course of a month. If it is beyond the manufacturers spec, it will have to get serviced. When I contacted the manufacturer, they gave me a +/- 7.5 to 10 min spec range over 30 days. Beyond that, something is wrong. Update Oct 2016, less 1 star for the watch having an issue under warranty and having to pay to ship it to the service center. Update July 2020. I've worn this watch almost daily for 6 years now and it has held up well. See the photo. The watch has not be polished or clean, that's just how durable it is. Adding two stars. The band hasn't deformed. The crystal hasn't chipped. No scratches. I am very satisfied with this watch.

I really like this watch. I don't have to worry about a battery, and I like the blue face. If I had to criticize it, I would say that the face could be a little bigger, but the price is very low, so I have a hard time complaining about that. My eighty three year old father saw me wearing this and ask for one, so I gave it to him and bought another. He likes it a lot, but he doesn't move around enough to wind it. With him, it stops at least once a week and I have to set it and shake it to wind it. Maybe not the best watch for him, but for me it is great.

I ordered this watch in ROYAL BLUE and what they sent was almost BLACK. I sent it back thinking they just sent the wrong color and they sent another of the same BLACKish tone instead of the clearly ROYAL BLUE shown in the photo on the website. It is a nice watch,easy to adjust the time and the band length , but the color is CLEARLY NOT the ROYAL BLUE shown on the website. I'm keeping this one anyway because I'm tired of being W/O a watch ( ordered a different manufacturers watch a couple weeks ago that turned out to be cheaply made (OLEV !) SEIKO is a very dependable brand but the color was not as shown.

Este es mi primer reloj automático, fuera de un Apple Watch y un Casio A168W que solía usar como daily driver. Me la pasé unas buenas horas viendo reseñas en YouTube intentando realizar la compra más inteligente y al final me decidí por este Seiko. Todos los comentarios, tanto míos como de personas con experiencia en el mundo de la relojería, son bastante positivos tomando en cuenta el precio de la pieza. El reloj tiene muy buen peso, un dial precioso, probablemente las fotografías no le hagan mucha justicia pero en persona es increíble la calidad de la caja en sí. Es un reloj pequeño, de 37mm, perfecto para muñecas de entre 145mm y 170mm . El movimiento es automático, bastante preciso, pero no se le puede dar cuerda de forma manual, únicamente a través del uso o agitando el reloj. El ajuste tiene 2 modos, el primer click hacia afuera es para ajustar la fecha, si le das cuerda en el sentido de las manecillas del reloj, ajustarás la fecha. Si le das cuerda en contra del sentido de las manecillas del reloj, ajustarás el día de la semana. En el segundo click hacia afuera se ajusta la hora, si le das cuerda al sentido de las manecillas avanza el minutero y horario. Si le das cuerda en el sentido opuesto, retrocede el segundero un poco pero continúa avanzando una vez que dejas de mover el engrane. La carga en stand-by (mientras no está en uso) dura 41 horas antes de detenerse y necesitar movimiento para ser cargada. La correa de este modelo (SNKL43) es la mejor que hay en la serie 5, mucho ojo con esto: Si escoges los modelos que inician SNX, nota que la correa, parte de la caja y el dial son diferentes, si bien la calidad es la misma, tiene ligeras diferencias estéticas que te podrían parecer más o menos atractivas según tu gusto. Esto es particularmente notorio en la correa, la correa de los SNX es la de menos calidad, no tiene ningún acabado y se asemeja, precisamente, a la de un Casio A168W. En lo personal, por eso escogí el SNKL, su correa tiene dos franjas paralelas de metal pulido (cromado) que le dan más personalidad. Para finalizar, el vidrio es Hardlex, poco más duro y resistente que los cristales minerales pero no tanto como el zafiro, por lo que será normal ver rayones nuevos de vez en cuando, nada que no se arregle con una pulida o incluso reemplazando el cristal. Estos modelos no son hechos en Japón sino en Singapur o Malasia. El ajuste de la correa es de tipo T, no tiene pines como relojes de gamas más altas. Lo puedes realizar en casa si cuentas con unas pinzas de punta y un juego de desarmadores milimétricos, te ahorras entre 50 y 100 pesos, dependiendo de la relojería.

It’s classy enough to wear with a suit but casual enough for everyday use. The bracelet is comfortable, and the clasp feels sturdy. For the price, it’s hard to beat the value you get with a Seiko. If you’re looking for a stylish, reliable watch that doesn’t break the bank, this one’s definitely worth considering.

・タキメータもどき等の虚飾もなく"実にこれぞ腕時計"と云うシンプルなデザインは好感。 ・青色の文字板でも派手すぎることなくシックに感じる色感。個人的意見だがフォーマルの場でも問題は無いと思う。 ・針と文字板には夜間使用を考慮した蛍光塗付処理の丁寧な作り。 ・梱包の箱もしっかりしており極度な安値感は無い。 ・初期不良のレビューが散見されたが購入品は問題無し。購入直後の3日間の平均日差は+6秒。半年後の現在も元気に動いている。 ・秒金を止めるハック機能が無いとの説明で、購入前は異和感を覚えたが、実際使って見ると問題は感じない。(電波時時のような絶対秒時間を知るためのものでないので） ・説明では曜日の第2言語はスペルン語とあったがどうもアラビア語みたい。と言っても第1言語は英語なので使用上問題は極少(まあ、逆輸入品なので、それなりの理由はあるのでしょうね。アラビア語だと返って面白いかも。？） ・セイコー5スポーツとあるが単なるセイコー5では？ ・逆輸入品とは言え(たぶん生産も海外かな。)、機械式自動巻腕時計をこの品質、この価格で購入できるのだから、セイコーの高度な設計技術、生産技術の英智を身に纏う事に誇りを感じる。
