New Complete Dog Training Manual

I must confess that I have not read this book... I gave it to someone as a gift when they got a new puppy... I have read another similar book by the same author titled "The Dog's Mind." Based on having read that book and the phenomenal results I got from using Dr. Fogel's techniques and the knowledge I gained I am confident this book will be just as good or better! Now, having said that you have to read the book and use the knowledge gained for there to be a benefit! Good Luck with your dog!

I gave it a 5 star rating because it is a good book if you are new to training and want an easy book to teach you the basics. It's short and to the point.I've been training my dogs (different breeds) for over 20 years and haven't had a problem until my most recent puppy: a Norwegian Elkhound. I knew from research that this particular breed was stubborn and needed a "strong" hand, so to speak. I've been working with her but she has been tough and a little bit disobedient at times. I purchased this book, thinking it might have some information to aid me with my training efforts. I read it but it didn't give me any information that I didn't already know and implement. It's a good book though for people who haven't trained a dog (or puppy).

I was glad to locate a copy of this book, it is an excellent and easy to read training guide. About 25 years ago I was taught this method during a puppy-training class so the book has been a great refresher with a few additional insights. I paired it with another Fogle book entitled The Dog's Mind which offers insight into how your dog thinks as opposed to how WE think he or she does.

A simple book, easy to follow.Its a little heavy on the treats system for me to say I Love it. It does however, tell you to eventually wean out the treats and replace with praise.It certainly helped my daughter get a start on working with our puppy, and it does have plenty of other good tips on restraint, and control.I really want to give it 4 stars... but the treat thing... just keeps it at 3.5

This book has some good ideas and good techniques but it is VERY basic and short. Seems more like a picture oriented training manual for kids. Not really what I was looking for but ok if you just want some good advice and pictures.

Well written book that was fun to read and to review over and over. The book has many pictures that demonstrated the different training activities. The book read by the whole family, including my kids (ages 7 - 18). It is a great reference book for training a dog.

The information in this book is amazing, I have learnt so much, excellent. The book I bought was second hand, it did state condition 'Very Good', but the condition wasn't as good as it should have been, it should have ststed 'Acceptable ', as the cover, back and front is very ragged and I had to wipe both front and back off with a damp cloth, but as I said, the content is excellent.

Gave this book 4 stars as I have read it but not used it yet as I bought it for my daughter, so it may well be 5 star. It covers all basic training and reads well. The illustrations are clear.There are lots of useful tips and it's easy to refer to The price was amazing and included postage and packing so I am very pleased. It arrived on time and is in excellent condition. I would certainly recommend both the book.and the service.

Very disappointing. Bruce Fogle's earlier book was better and I referred to it for years. Its now a bit outdated and with a new rescue dog I wanted to more up-to-date advice. This new one gives very little useful advice in my opinion. Cannot recommend. Bought 100 Different Ways to Train your Dog at the same time, which is far better, in my view.
